WTB: Silver ring work

Hello,
Building my first cues. Does anyone sell silver ring work ala J Gold or similar? I see Prather has a good selection, but nothing in silver.

I'm not sure if Your looking for slot ringwork filled with silver billet strips or solid silver rings, but the last time I bought solid sterling rings I got them from Atlas. A search for "sterling washers" may also produce some unlikely sources.

If you have the equipment to build a cue, you should be able to make those rings by yourself. Buy some black phenolic rod or tube from Atlas and the Silver strips that they sell in the Inlay section. There are cheaper places to get the silver, but unless you are buying a lot, you won't save much anyway. You then just need to get some cutters to cut the slots the right width. The .020 end mills aren't that cheap, but you can get some from Lee at Brianna for about $8 apiece. Make sure you get more than one. You'll be pretty pissed when you break it if you don't have another.

It may cost you close to $100 in materials, but I'll bet you won't find somebody to make them up for much cheaper. Making rings isn't much fun.

Also, in my opinion, if this is your first cue, it is probably something you are not going to be very proud of six months down the road, so you might not want to overspend on it. My first cue was built 100% out of scrap wood and probably cost me less than $50 in total materials. I still have it, but it is damn ugly.

Thanks for the tips Tony. I can't wait to try this myself in the future, but for now I'm not set up for it, and I have my hands full with the rest of the project. Fun stuff!
