WTB: Sneaky pete

the best for the money, hit, esthetics and workmanship in my opinion are made by Keith Josey hands down. they're not really sneaky's they are more like custom exotic wood cues that are full spliced. he inlays nice looking designs and also have a more forward balance which allows the overall weight of the cue to be heavier but not feel heavier. Keith's a great guy to deal with too! good luck!

Tried 2 before, an ebony merry widow thompson, and simpler senaky pete.. they are not fantastic or anything...i since refunded the ebony, and sold off the sneaky. but i rather u go for a bob frey..or a Joss.

I know that custom cues are a better investment but any old sneaky pete for aronud 30 bucks with the right tip, IMO a triangle, will play just as good and no real loss if it walks off from the table.
 
Everyone seems to tout what they own which is understandable, so I'll do the same. I recently bought a Scot Sherbine (Not So) Sneaky Pete from Proficient Billiards, and it's really a fantastic piece of work. What sold me on Scot, other than the good reviews on various forums from everyone who has played with one, it his outstanding reputation for doing great work on other cues. Just have a look at some of the cues that he has worked on. My thoughts were that if this fellow has been entrusted to work on Balabushka's, Rambow's, Szamboti's, and every other High dollar Cue known to man, he must be doing something right. If people in the know rely on, and trust him to work on their cues worth thousands of dollars, he probably knows just about every type of cue inside and out, and I thought he just might be able to make me a decent sneaky. What I ended up with was a flawlessly constructed cue that looks like polished glass,(killer finish) with MY taper preference, MY choice of joint and pin type, MY choice of butt and wrap, and basically everything I asked for down to the weight, tip, and collar type, all for a little over 3 bills. There are lots of great cuemakers out there making sneaky's, but not all will build exactly what you want.(In my hands within 2 weeks btw) Anyway, I'm sure any of those mentioned would be fine cues to own, just thought I'd share my experience and give you something else to consider since noone has mentioned Sherbine Sneaky's.

No question, Hank Thompson is a nice fellow, easy to work with and tries hard to deliver a decent cue.
I had one made to spec for me with 2 shafts. Unfortunately, both shafts wobbled like crazy after a few weeks.
It takes time to age the wood and it shows when it hasn't been aged properly.
Other than that, I'd deal with Hank again in a heartbeat.
He's a great guy.
