WTB Sugartree

Like a few lucky people on this board, I've had the pleasure of buying directly from Eric (on more than 1 occassion). When I say that the cue on highendcues.com is overpriced, you can be sure that it is. That price may be inline with current 2nd hand market prices, but alas, the buyer is still paying a hefty markup. Personally, I'd be happier to see that money get into Eric's hands instead but he's sticking to his guns and charging what he feels is a fair and honest price. It's the 2nd hand sellers that drive up the price of a cue like this to $2400.

Much like SouthWest cues... For example one from them would run $1600 but on the market will bring $2200.. If your "lucky" enough to be the one who gets a cue directly from then then great.

SouthWest also has an 8 year waiting list.. Eric Crisp is no longer taking orders..

So these market price are spot on.. There is a high demand for the cues and not many available.. and the prices just keep going up on the market.. So what ever you pay this year will be at least a quarter more next year..

The smart ones are keeping his cues.. Look 10 years into the future and imagine what the value of one of his cues will be.. Same with SW cues..

I spoke to Eric during the completion of that Scallop cue.. Saw pictures when it was almost done.. He said then that this would probably be a $2400 cue and that appears to be the price..

I don't think it's overpriced and I'll lay 3 to 1 that someone purchases it eventually.. Once the ones in circulation get into the hands of people who will not resell them, and Eric is not taking anymore orders..

Just think of how hard it will be to get one.. It's already hard to get one now...

$2400 seems high...but I dunno..is it?

Well, two things 2400 (perhaps a bit of wiggle putting up all those Franklins) and its yours tomorrow...or waiting however long for another one. Also you cant go wrong as all of Eric's cues play jam up...he just builds them that way. You could always buy it, use it for a while and sell it and not get hurt.

I also agree with Windowsrefund

I love Eric's 8-point cues. I'm soon to be the proud daddy of the cotton candy lookin' cue near the top of the batch pictured below...

Pink ivory and east indian rosewood....

Nice pickup, I had been talking with Eric throughout the construction of that cue...and almost made it to my case, but just didnt "need" it, though I wanted it. I bet it plays excellent with that rosewood!!!

I imagine it will. I haven't received it just yet. If it plays anything like the two previous ST's I've owned...I have no doubt I'll be tickled....pink. It's easily one of the most unique cues I've seen. I don't recall having seen that much pink ivory in a cue before. All I know is Eric is one of the finest people I've ever met...cues not even taken into consideration. I look forward to owning many of his cues...and a long lasting friendship. He's truly one of the cue worlds good guys. A real gem. I hope he makes it out to Valley Forge one year for Expo. It's always a real pleasure to get a chance to meet the gentlemen that make this game possible to participate in.

I'd rather get the money into Eric's hands too. That being said...the man's got a laundry list of cues to be made that will keep him busy from now til Rapture. If that cue's around and I have $2400 I can spare to part with...that MF'er is gonna be mine. I'd LIKE to get it at $2K...you know...the guy's gotta make SOME money on it...but if I have to pay a bit more...so be it.

Oh...I read it. 3:1? You're losing money. 4 or 5:1. I might make you a winner on any bet you take along those lines all by myself if someone doesn't beat me to it. Either way...you're gold. I think Eric prices his cues quite reasonably. He could have sold a cue like that for $2400 direct. I don't think someone else paying that on the secondary market is outlandish. The question is...if Eric DOES sell that for $2400...does it go for $3000 on the secondary market?

If I didn't have 2 already and one being built as we speak, I'd offer $1600 for the cue that's listed at onthehill.net

Really? Hmmm. My 8 pointer without the scallops is $1800 direct from the man himself. $200 less for the scallops in the handle and the amboyna burl? Go ahead and offer it anyway. If he accepts you can post it on here for $1800-$2000...and make $200-$400...and the person buying it from you saves $400-$600 on the listed price at onthehill.net. Everyone wins.

I don't think there's any change that cue ever fetches a number that low. The "plain janes" and sneakies have been going upward of $1K.

I would never "flip" a sugartree. I have way too much respect for Eric and his craft to do that.

Nor would I. I should have made mention that I wasn't actually suggesting that. Was purely hypothetical. The Sugartree's I buy from now going forward...will be mine and mine alone.

You said it!!! Tap Tap

I have been trying to convince Eric to get to VF...Jamie, buy his ticket :p

Hell...I'D buy his ticket if that's what it took. He's busy with family and whatnot too though. He's got a full plate. I'm sure it's not easy getting away for even 4 days. He spends enough time away from NM when he's out getting our shaftwood in the UP of Michigan.

Eric would need to ask Allen Hopkins if he could get his booth for one day. Whatever he brought with him would probably be gone within hours of the doors opening.

He doesn't need...

He doesn't need a booth, he could simply come and hang out, and Jamie being his main dealer, could hang out at his table!

Eric is considering coming to VF next year. He should come so all his loyalists there can have the opportunity to meet him. As good as his cues are...he is a better person by far.

As for this comment...

If you have the respect for Eric you say you have, why would make a statement like the one above under-valuing the cue on onthehill.net. That would be a "slap in the face" type of offer.

Is Eric home yet?

I personaly feel the scalloped cue is one of the most attractive that Eric has built to date, bar none. That and the Ebony Titlist Conversion that Jazz posted a pic of........
