WTB "Thin Butts"

A Japanese friend of mine is in the market for a cue with a thinner butt. I know this is a pretty general term, but are there any cuemakers out there that are known to make smaller diameter butts as their standard dimensions? I know that almost anyone will make one per request, but my friend isn't interested in a wait. He has heard that Cogs have a smaller diameter butt and is interested. I seem to remember my old Judd was smaller in diameter. Anybody know about any others? I'm trying to convince him to take a look at makers like Blackcreek, and Carmeli because of to me, those two makers make a lot of cue for the price. But I'm not at all familiar with the butt dimensions of either of the two. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The two that come to mind for me right now are Coker, and Shurtz. They're both smaller than I'm used to, but they're both nice cues nonetheless. I used my shurtz yesterday for the first time in ?? and remember how much I liked the way it plays...So its going down to my cuemaker for black leather tomorrow. I can hardly wait to try it afterwards!

I have a wrapless olivewood Zylr with a thin butt. It is a wrapless cue. I also have a very fancy Cog that is also on the thin side.

Perry weston has a standard thinner butt on all his cues and you get a huge amt of cue for the money and they play fantastic! he is also one of the few in the smithsonian museum:)

the two cues that i've played with that have thinner butts were a kenny murrell and a corey barnhart. if i had to choose between the two i'd go with the barnhart - they play amazing.

Contact Petree cues, Hes a little busy right now, but He's making really nice cues these days ;)

Thinner butts

I've a Sherm with a thinner butt. It's one that is about 10 to 15 years old. I could choose of a line of cues a cuedealer had. And if I remember right all Sherm cues had a thinner butt.

If you're intrested look at the pics at the following link:

By the way this was my playing cue about 8 years. If the price is right I'm willing to let it go. It has a real hard hit and one of the best feedbacks to the handle.

4 more to choose from

My Bob Frey has a thinner butt and I think some if not all Scruggs and Phillippi cues are a bit smaller than normal. I also had a nice Scott Whisler cue that had a thin handle too. The Whisler cue was very nice and resonably priced to boot.

thin but

John Guffy is thin. That is what i play with and one day i went to use the plastic slip on cue extender and it just slid over the cue and fell on the ground.Thanx, Ron
