WTT: Custom cue(s) for IPhone

Bastian,

Wow you are really confused. There is no such thing as "intellectual property". There are trademark, copyright, and patent laws of course but they really are distinct things and have little, if anything, in common with each other. "Intellectual Property" is a smoke and mirrors FUD term used by Big Content in order to blur the lines between these well defined areas of law and confuse people who are all too willing to be led around by the hype.

Even the word "protecting" (when used in the context you chose to use it in) is a hype tactic. You say that DRM is used to "protect" content but fail to realize that the content is never endangered in the first place. The content is exactly what is is regardless of the number of copies that exist. So perhaps you're not really interested in the content being "protected" and are really trying to "protect" something else? What exactly would that be?

You may want to spend some time researching the work of Richard Stallman, Laurence Lessig, and others before you go on another rant. I can see quite clearly that you've come across a few headlines and whatnot but your common knee-jerk responses make it very clear that you've only skimmed the surface of these issues.

You're looking at things from an extremely selfish and narrow point of view while showing no regard for society as a whole.

That's actually the problem. Most consumers think they actually know what the iphone (and other proprietary technology) is. Once you dig a little deeper, you realize they don't know anything and have just been sucked in by the pretty eye-candy and hype.

In any case, think of my message as an offer and do with it what you will.

 Windows refund can you leave it alone? Next time you start up a thread for selling a cue I will post stating that the cue is not worth the money, does not hit good, etc, etc. Just leave it alone. Go and vent at the apple forums.

Let me know what you got I have a 8MB thats I use thats jail broke has several games and applications. Just about to upgrade to new model if interested PM me your trades.

As far a perople working for ATT it does not do much good to see if they can get a good deal they CANT my wife works for ATT she gets a whole 10% off that better than none but suck compared to the 30% off all the other phones. Something to do with the Apple ATT contract to prevent employees for reselling them.

Thanks but not interested. Looking for the 16MB. If I can't get anything I will sell a cue or so to get what I want.

I must agree here, but I'm going to sadly fuel the fire by saying that the only hype I see presented in this thread is the hype coming from his words. Most people who fight on that side of the argument don't see the big picture themselves. People work to get themselves ahead anymore, time is money and the work done on these technologies takes time. But let's forget all about that for a minute and point to ISO 9000 standards. Tracking and ensuring quality. Open source eliminates all this and you have no one to pin problems down on. When things fall apart who's to blame? It all depends on whether or not you have a version from the original "trunk" or from a branch. So let's make cell phones open source, and release their firmware to the open market. This way joe blow idiot who has no more than 5 hours of programming experience can bog down cell phone networks with their faulty programming and cause havok through and through. And on top of that you now generate support calls to cell phone providers about problems with software that Mr. Joe Blow modified and is now causing problems with their service--more lost man hours.

Quality Control is a good thing. DRM is a good thing, people just want things for free...

And all I wanted was to trade a few or one nice custom cue for an IPhone.
Sorry for posting this thread but I am not discussing if phones should be open source or not. Just trying to get a deal, that is all.
Why don't you guys start your own forums about cell phones then?

bestkites,

Dude, relax. Are you really so terrified at the thought of learning something?

Geeze!

Windowsrefund go away! The school that you've learned at I was the teacher there, ok?

NickS,

Please stop already. In case you haven't noticed, it's 2008. Your 1997 FUD is not going to work here. People today are so much smarter and realize that Free Software creates a democracy and level playing field for support. In other words, a free market. Who do you blame when your Oracle database crashes or your Windows OS gets owned by an exploit that's been in the wild for months? Big deal, you get to stand in line and whine to your master who then in turn, tells you to wait for the next upgrade to see if it fixes your problems.... Oh please. I'm really not impressed.

Free Software (what you mistakenly refer to as Open Source) does not force you to be tied to a single vendor for support. Then again, if all your looking for is a scapegoat, well........ I guess that's enough for some people. Others, like myself, want to be empowered to make real progress and solve real problems.

Windowsrefund start your own thread and leave this one alone. Do you have an Iphone to trade? Do you want to buy any of my cues? Then buzzoff!! I will bug you as well on your threads. I have reported your post activities to the forum admins. You are way out of line.
Shut up and post some place else.

Iphone

you might want to wait, google is comming out with there free google phone, free service. The catch is they advertise through your phone

I believe that they'll be using OpenMoko but I'm really not positive. Of course, with that platform, it will be impossible to be locked into any "catch" since it will run Free Software. Hopefully, this will be the end of these silly little telephony silos we've had to tolerate so far.

30%???? Damn, you should tell her to use another code and get the 50% off of other phones. You are right about the discount on the apple phones though. Darn it I thought I could have struck an awesome deal for the both of us but oh well. Also, if you get an 8MB or 16 MB Iphone then you're REALLY getting ripped off. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though and take that you meant an 8 GB phone.;)
