Arguably the two best young players in the last couple of years.

Wu, Hightlights: World Junior runner up twice in a row, and current world 8 AND 9 ball champion.

Alex, hightlights: World 9 ball Runner Up and Champion, and US Open Champion.

My question is if these two super stars where to match up in a race to 101 for a Million $ who would win. In addition I would like to know what helped you reach your decission marking the following areas of their games, I'll start it off:

Cue Ball Control: EQUAL
Potting: EQUAL
Shot Making: ALEX
Pool Brain: EQUAL
Experience: ALEX
Pressure Resilliance: EQUAL
Heart: EQUAL (Both have impressive comebacks to their names in WPC Final)
Temprament: Wu

MY RESULT: Alex Edges the Win

Experience.

With that big of a purse and that long of a race, I would have to put my money on the one with the most big time experience, so my money would be on Alex.

I say ...

That Wu wins. Why, because I think he is good when
the pressure is on, and over about 200 games he will
have more stamina than Alex since he is younger, but
I do think it would be close.

Alex because for one I believe Alex plays better and thats a long race. Id say 101-73 or something close to that.

He's younger, but have you seen him? Not exactly the poster boy for stamina.

Good post Craig, should make for some good debate!

We talking eightball or nineball here?

I think that either player could come out on top on any given day considering their both top class world players and quite evenly matched. Considering the long race stamina would be a factor that has to be considered and I would definitely give Alex the edge here, Wu may be young but isn't exactly in great shape compared to Alex.

Both players have great breaks but I like Wu's more than Alex's, more power and slightly better CB control which would be a huge factor if they were playing nineball. I don't think experience would play much of a factor, some would give Alex the advantage here because of Wu's young age, but I think we can all agree Wu has proven he can handle himself on the big stage. Their both great shotmakers and have amazing potting ability so their pretty even in that area, same goes when it comes to playing position.

I guess if the two were to match up playing either game (eight or nine) and I had the chance to throw a bet down on the match I would make the smartest choice....which would be to keep my money in my pocket and not make a wager on two evenly skilled players such as Alex and Wu.

youre sitting on the fence then ;-) hehe

AS for the game, ok one set of each :)

I'd back Alex!

I think Wu has spectacular ability and can bring it out when the heat is on, but I suspect he needs a kick to get into gear...he needs a challenge...such as to see the wire...intensify his focus.

Whereas Alex is more a seasoned player, who is used to picking up his form at the drop of a hat.

So even if on pure ability Wu is 10% better, Alex could play closer to his true ability over a long time than Wu could. I suspect Wu would play lazy through the early stages while Alex would zone in.

To a 16 year old, one year seems an eternity, and so might 101 games. To an older guy, they know the time will fly so best focus on the job right from the start before the trouble sets in.

Just my thoughts :p
