X Breaker Shaft:

How thick is the Xbreaker shaft? I am thinking of picking up one this month. I haven't anywhere to test hit one but, I love the way the Golden Oak cue looks. I currently have a sledgehammer JB and yet me tell you the thickness in that shaft drives me up the wall. It fells like pregnant cue in my hand. Don't get me wrong it does the job but we just don't get along. Anyone know how the size of the breaker shaft compares to the sledge? Or if perhaps the shaft can be ordered at a smaller size? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Not positive. I had larry rothberg simply put a Charmer phenolic jump/break tip on my Players sneaky pete. That thing really kicks tail and is effectively the same thing as the sledgehammer tip. The players shaft is not too thick as to annoy me but not too thin as to feel like it will buckle on me while breaking.

I have very long and slender fingers and always prefer a slimmer or more tapered shaft, which is why I guess I play so well with my Meucci G-3 with the black dot. I am considering eventually getting an OB-1 for it though as I've hit with those and let me tell you the hit is very nice :)

13.30 mm? Man I wonder if it would be available in maybe a 12.85 or 12.50 mm that would be sweet!!!!

Hey BYGJERRY,

I have an x347 now and I used to own a Sledge. I'm sure you could find out info about shaft taper and diameter on xtremebilliard and gulyassy's website, but IMO if I remember right, the sledge felt thicker in my fingers than the xbreaker.

on richards site the tip diameter listed is 13.60 mm
i couldnt find the sledgehammer site but on billiards911 its is listed at 13.25mm

Well the thing is to me the sledgehammer feels like a giant Pixie stick in my fingers you follow? Granted my hands are not small as I can palm a basketball fairly easily. Now a friend of mine has a McDermott break cue and the shaft feels of that of a playing cue I am not quite sure of the diameter. Oh well that's the problem with leaving in the Dirty South...not a cue store within 341miles.

Where in TX are you? Mike Hoang runs Omega Billiards in Fort Worth. I don't think he carries xbreakers though.

Jerry,
Thank you fo ryour interest in the x Breaker.:)
If you are from TX, perhaps you can try hook up with Charlie Bryant. He plays and breaks with the X Breaker x347 limited edition.
You can meet with him, ask him whatever question you have, and then buy the X Breaker from him. That way, you can be sure you are happy with what you are getting, and you know exactly what you are buying. Charlie has a few x347 limited edition that you can choose from.
I would recommend you PM him on this forum to set up an appointment.
Hope this helps.
Once again, thank you for your interest in the X Breaker.
Richard
