X-Jumper Review

I finally got to try out the X-Jumper made by Richard Chan. The butt is made out of a nice piece of Goncalo alves. The shaft is made out a tight grained piece of Ash. The shaft feels very solid and well balanced. The weight of the jump cue is a little more than a Bungee jump cue, but I think that is a good thing. I am way more accurate with the X-Jumper than the Bungee. The tip is the hardest tip available and it chalks pretty easily. I barely have to hit the cue ball to get it to jump and I don't have the elevate as high as I did before. I can jump from a ball away with relative ease, and I can jump from further away with even more comfort.
Thanks again for another great cue Richard.
I will try to get some pictures up later.

Great review... I agree 100 percent. Gonna post up my review of it as well soon. Hopefully have some video to go along with it.

Tanner and Icon of Sin, thank you very much.
:)
I will be looking forward to your videos. You really do not have to do this, it is very much appreciated.

I want to add that the X jumper is a jump cue designed for players who are already quite good at jumping, who are looking for that extra edge with more control and accuracy.

That is why I did not try to make it very light. I have built a prototype which only weights 3.5oz. It was easy to jump. But the players who gave me advice could jump very well with pretty much any jump cue on the market anyway, they were looking for more control on the landing zone and the direction. Being 1-2 oz lighter, or being able to jump half a ball, does not do much for those who can already jump very well. That is why I built the X jumper this way, it allows the jumper to have better control. It is built for the better players, who want to increase their percentage of making a ball off the jump.

I just want to point this out in case someone is confused about why it is not very very light. We have kind of past that point of making some thing light with a hard tip already--we are trying to build a jump cue that make it more effortless to control the direction, and the landing zone of the jump, as well as offering the players a more solid contact, and better feedback.

Regards,
Richard

I would like to add ....

That I have found that the real light jump cues have a problem with accuracy for longer jump shots in the past. When I went from a an original Frog to a Scorpion jump cue, I found I could lift a little better, but
my accuracy was not as accurate as with the heavier Frog (original Frog was 46" long). The Scorpion jumper weighs 8.5 oz.

The X-Jumper provides better lift than my J&J jump portion with the phenolic tip, and much better accuracy. You can feel the 'grip' on the cue ball when you jump, and you feel more confident with it. It will also
allow you to actually get english with a jump shot.

The appearance is a little unique with the Ash shaft. I liked the 1/2" bowling ball ferrule. I inspected the joint area quite intensely, and it flushes up exactly, with the pin exactly centric. I also like the cute little rubber bumper on the bottom that is screwed in so you won't lose it.

It is simply the best jump cue I have ever tried for lift and accuracy - bar none.

And Richard, I am going to Oklahoma City Saturday to play in a tournament, and if I do good, I will be placing my order when I get back.

For some reasons, now I got a hybrid: a first generation x-breaker with a standard shaft with the new tip(brown).

This combination works amazing. The jumping is very very simple(smaller angle for jump) and accurate(I can assert now i make more ball in jump).
The break works great also, only the first days you have to naturalize, but now the feel, in my opinion is very similar BK2(maybe better but this is taste).
A last little consideration: for very long jump I like use the entire cue. This is the situation where it wors better, also with little english.

Great product Richard, and thank you again.
