I posted a couple youtube videos of this guy running a 100 in balkline, checked out his site:

He's a very high level small game player in Europe. He has this book - 35 euro, which is about $50 depending on the xchange rate - it's just a pdf file that he sends you, but I love any kind of books on any billiards game, so I got it. He sent it tonight - you just download it as a PDF.
It's 711! pages long - he's been working on it for years, it's not finished yet, he's still working on the 47.1 pages, I think. It's incredible, there's never been anything like this published in the US, and I'd wager nothing to this degree even in Europe. The first 100 pages or so are basic, stance, rules, so forth. The other 600 pages are just an encyclopaedic book on all the small games. Every page is like two clear overhead actual photos of the position, then a discussion of the position, possible risks of playing, and how you can go wrong, then two diagrams of how to deal with. There's a section in the middle, I can't even find it anymore, it's so huge, where each page is six photos of an 'American Series' nurse, step by step, and it goes on for pages. I can't play balkline to save my life, but I love any technical talk of billiards, just like to be able to watch a match intelligently. Anyway, it's all in French, but you throw it in google translate and you can figure it out with the diagrams. If you're a collector, I know it's not a real 'book', but I think you might want to have this one..SlickRickPCS wants it

Which kind of reminds me: Does any other freegame/balkline player have something like this other than Xavier G.? I would be interested in this once I get out of retirement (which is called college education ).

eze123: you are one punctual little man.... don't ever change

Just my two cents trolling around European sites that have books - there are tons of really good 3C books, Spanish books are the best, and really good straight rail books. Balkline, there are a couple Dutch and German books, about all I've found. It seems like most either go straight game or 3C, or like the Caudron video, balkline is sandwiched in the middle between the two main games. I haven't seen anything like the gretillat one, never mind the depth he goes into. That's why I posted it.
