Yet again... another aiming question

JLW said:
Let me guess. You're in your early twenties, have taken lessons, have met a few pros, and have played in some tourneys. So you're the big shit now, huh? You deserve special treatment from all those around you because of all you've accomplished in pool? I don't care if you and your buddy Drivermaker are Vince and Fast Eddie (which you both actually do appear to believe). That doesn't give you two a license to be assholes. Every time I see one of you two post something on here, it's some condescending bs meant to belittle others and make you feel superior. Never is there any attempt to actually have a mature discussion about pool. To have an exchange of ideas about the game. To possibly disagree without becoming disagreeable. Or to consider the possibility that someone could do something in a manner different from yours and still be ok. No. Only to continue feeding your starving egos. It's your way or the highway. You two don't have anything more to learn about the game, so you come on here to lecture the undeserving.

..... I guess I can stop practicing for a few minutes. Hmmm. Let me see. Someone posted something. Wait, they're not a pro. Yeah! Here's my opportunity to feel superior. They obviously know nothing about the game. I mean, how could they know more than me? I'll teach them to post on my forum. And they better not disagree with me! Take that! I sure put them in their place. I feel so much better. Now I can go practice for another 10 hours, because being good at pool is the most important thing in life. I know it seems harsh, but you gotta show these idiots tough love....

Apparently what you two want is some type of class system where people are required to present their pool credentials before they are allowed to express any thoughts. Because who could know more about pool than the two of you? Right? And if all else fails, go to the old standby---challenge them to a game. That'll shut em up. Because, if you or Drivermaker could beat me in a game, that proves that you both know more than me, right? That I don't have any idea what I'm talking about.

Are you two really so insecure as people that you feel the need to attack others for no reason? People come on here to enjoy themselves and talk about pool. They have families and commitments. Things in their lives that are actually important. As Willie Mosconi said, "There's more to life than pool." If you have reached a certain level of success with your pool playing, good for you. It takes a huge amount of hard work and determination, But it's not the most important thing in the world. And being good at it doesn't make you important. It's too late for Drivermaker. He's already gone to the Dark side. But you still have time to realize that. Unfortunately, you probably won't until it's too late. You'll end up a bitter old man (like Drivermaker) who is an asshole. But boy can he shoot pool.

FYI, i still have plenty to learn, and still learn some from this forum from time to time.

if you look back through my posts, you'll probably find some very helpful info.

there are plenty of ways to do things in pool........but there are some things that are just WRONG. pointing these things out to people is sometimes more benificial that actually telling people the right way to do things.

Do you know the tune to "Here Comes Santa"? Good...I'm going to give you a new set of words...just apply the same tune and beat to it.

"Here comes douche bag, here comes douche bag
bounding home from work....

His Masters degree..got him a job
in Krogers as a clerk....

Drivermaker drives him nuts and
VAP sticks it to him to....

JLW thinks he's big shit
but we just say fuck you....

Here comes douche bag, here comes douche bag
on his keyboard now...

Thought all day about our posts and
is fit to have a cow....

He can't aim-shoot- or play
though he wishes he could...

VAP and I would stomp his ass
as everyone knows we would....

There goes douche bag, there goes douche bag
with his tail between his legs...

We make him look just like a fool
in his cry baby ways....

Go back home...don't ever come back if you
know what's good for you...

We'll cut you up and break you down
and have you for a stew...

There goes douche bag, there goes douche bag...
good nignt everybody......hope douche bag visits YOU!

We don't attack people, but with you we're willing to make an exception. You're a flaming asshole and an idiot with nothing to say. You didn't say a damn thing on the aiming thread and you're still not doing it here.

VAP and I are all over this forum in multiple threads talking about cues, gambling, technique, and just about every subject that comes up. YOU don't post all day and come home with one purpose in mind and that's to hit this particular thread and try to extricate yourself from the shithole that you've placed yourself in from being a jerk and saying nothing of importance about aiming. Now you're trying to ease the pain by attempting a half-assed effort to say something about us that nobody gives a shit about. If we were so bad, EVERYBODY would be on our case and Mike would have banned us long ago. This is gonna blow you away...but I get bunches of positve PM's on almost a daily basis about a variety of subjects that I post on, and I do a lot BEHIND the scenes on emails and PM's with a lot of the members here to help out. THEY sure as hell aren't bitching...only you douche bag.

Let's try once more and don't evade it this time....How long have you been playing? How much do you like to gamble for? Have you ever spent time on the road? Have you played in tournaments and what kind of record do you have? What's the most money you've ever won/lost in a night or week?
What's your high run in straight? How many racks have you run consecutively in 9-ball? What state do you reside so that you might be able to match up with someone on here?

Here are a couple of NEW QUESTIONS: "What top pro's or instructors have YOU taken lessons from? How many times did you go back to see them?
What have you done in your entire pool playing life that gives you the insights and knowledge regarding the game?

Don't want to answer again douche bag?....I thought so...nothing to say about it at all, is there? That's OK...we get the message...the silence speaks for itself.

I just think that if opinions are shared that we should see some basis for them. I do not think that JLW should back down, he should be specific in identifying his position with a little more fact. He may have some very good stuff to offer.

I also know that Drivermaker has contributed quite a bit to this forum. And quite a bit of good stuff.

JLW- why not list the basis for your opinions and if you are not an A player, big deal, just state it. No one on this forum will give a hoot. I have run across players that have called themselves A-level, who frankly think that running 80 balls makes them an A. I do not care. I have run across B players who have developed some good ideas that I thought deserved merit. I'm not saying your either, but stating your basis (books, experience, teachings) for knowledge does offer credibility.

Example, I have scanned a book on mentally centering yourself, frankly I do not agree. I'm also not qualified to disagree, who cares. All I know that is for me to get myself in the zone I externalize on the object ball, all of my focus, concentration and energy is at the object ball. When I'm in the zone, even the longest and most difficult shot seems very close almost like I'm looking through a magnifying glass. Position becomes a more a natural part of my stroke. So for me, this works. But I state this as my own personal experience.

Just spill it out and identify specifically with what you disagree with and why. Lets all learn. You seem to be fairly new to this forum and you will enjoy it here. Lots of personalities and lots of knowledge.

LMAO...I'd be more than happy to...especially if you lie to me and say that her name is Marissa, even if it's not. It'll be doubly pleasurable. ;) :D

Sorry, I expressed it wrong. What I should have said is that the object ball appears as if the contact point to the path of the pocket is perfectly clear at the smallest point and I can see all angles to play any part of the pocket I choose exactly - no matter the distance or cut. Just as if it were a simple short shot right next to me. No the object ball is not bigger, it just seems to be closer and I can not miss when this happens. This only occurs if my desire to win is strong. I can call on it and I just let my stroke fly.

Maybe it is an illusion of bigger, but I never recalled it as that.

One other point which you can explain to me, or maybe you already did.

I have very poor vision and refuse to wear my glasses because they get in the way. I will not wear contacts. However, why can I see the object ball so clearly when I am in total concentration? This is otherwise impossible. When I'm playing someone and they are shooting a ball just off the rail, I can not see the edge of the ball from the rail, at all. When I concentrate it is clear.

What did he cover with you?
Wutta deal.

First he showed us the basics, stance, bridge, stroke, etc. Then he showed us how his clock system works. After that he had us shoot around and he critiqued us on different aspects of our game. He gave each of us personal time and tried to balance it out as much as possible. We ended the session by playing doubles, me and Buddy against Walt (the other student) and Tony Annigoni. They both offered suggestions to us as we played. We had a great time!! Money well spent! I'm finally feeling like I'm assimilating most of what he taught me. I went through that downward trend as I was attempting to incorporate everything into my game. I was missing balls that I just don't usually miss but I kept at it in spite of all that. I think my game is starting to creep up now.

Thanks Buddy, and Tony for making it possible!!!!

Pete ... I also have bad vision (-10/670 both eyes, astig front and back, and scarred corneas). My best vision is 20/40 with hard contacts. I asked my
eye doctor, who has taken care of me 32 years since my corneas got scarred how come I have my best vision when I shoot Pool. He told me that my brain
is making up for what my eyes can not see, kind of like the 3rd eye type thing.
I suspect it is because I can focus real well, and all of my energy is tunneled
towards the table and object ball. I think the brain, is judging what is seen, making unconscious corrections, and helping me to focus in on what I need to.
