Yobaqua

Hi Rickw,

Here I am playing right into the hands of my friend Fast Larry but.... I spoke with Jeanette at the DCC away from the "action". She was dressed casually. It took me a moment to recognize her. Regardless of how she chooses to dress, she is a class act and a great spokesperson for pool around the world.

HAHAHHA! That is great kep2. You are probably doing the Fridays NY Times crossword already. Im only up to Wednesday. Nope the name is nothing honorable. It is from the Okinawan language. Yo means weak, ba means horse, and gua means little. Put them all together and it means something like the little weak horse or "the dark horse". You know the Underdog. It is something my teacher kept calling me in order to challenge me to get better. Although I am not Okinawan I have studied their language and culture. It is for my line of work. Karate has its origins in Okinawa when the rulers from the outside forbade any Okinawans from having any weapons. So they created a form of fighting and self defense. They also used farm implements. The nun chuks (3 sticks chained together) that Bruce Lee used is originally what they used to beat the rice out of the stalks. Yobagua or the little weak horse is to remind me that I am not so hot but there is something I can strive for.

Let me guess! :p
YOB is boy spelled backwards. AGUA is water.

WATERBOY!? ;)

Thanks CK. I will be in Vegas in May. I know a lot of AZ'ers will be there. My post for Keb2 was for you as well.

Hi John,

Thanks for continuing to post. Don't ever let the small minds win! You are one of the posters I would like to meet. I notice your location is not on your profile. Will you be at the Super Billiards Expo? How about the BCA's? Someone had a great idea to encourage AZ members to meet at each major event. I agree.

Incidently, may I inquire as to what "yobaqua" refers? Is it an ethnic term? An honored friend or family member name? Just an interest in the origin of your "handle".
