You ever try this?

I was hittin some balls today, and thought about the pics of some players that seem to be using only the first two fingers on the grip hand. I use more of a convoluted full hand grip with the pinkie doing all sorts of maneuvers!:)

anyway, I tried the grip with just the first two fingers, and it works fine but feels weird. In the end I found it works best for tight nip draws, or super spin delicate shots. Very useful, but I don't have the feel for a full time conversion ....yet....you all ever experiment with this, or use it full time?...

I've been shootin' pool for about 40 years now and believe it or not, up until about a year ago, I used to hold my cue with only my middle finger (all you tail-gaters know which one I'm talkin' abouy :D ) and my thumb. I kinda let the cue pivot on the pads of my fingertips as if there was a rod runnin' through them holding the cue in place. I was always comfortable with this grip but when I REALLY got back into pool, I wanted to do it right. I never even think about holding the cue this way anymore but I think if I went back to it, I wouldn't have as much cue ball control as I do now.

This is the grip I use on all shots except the break and jumping/masse. I throw a lot of wrist in there too.

Me too. I changed last year after watching so many of the Asian players. They all use a very light grip and claim it gives better control and more action on the cue ball. Generally two fingers and the thumb and you can see through the gap between the web of the hand and the top of the cue.

Has helped me but maybe it's just in my head.
