Your Ah-Ha moment in pool that took your game to the next level?

After i started with Pool i bought the Book 99 Critical Shots in Pool (Ray Martin). I was practising some of this new stuff i found in it-- and was banging some ball-positions on a 8-footer.
An old man (Very big and tall) watched me about an hour, without saying anything. Then he stood up, came over, showed me the *tangent line* (90° Rule). And furthermore that the strokarm has to be vertical to the floor in my setup position (about 1-2 cm from cueball).
"You have to become a straight and reproducable straight-stroke-otherwise each shot will be just a lucky accident", turned around and went away.
Think that was the initial moment for me, where i started to think about fundamentals- hours later i saw him playing 3-cushion...it was amazing to see a almost 140kg and 1,90metres tall man playing...and he looked like a ballet-dancer. It was amazing. Later i asked a guy, who stood next to me, how that guy is- he answered me that it was a 30-40 time national champion, 30 time european champion in cadre and other carom disciplines.....and furthermore he s my father- LOL.

we became really good friends--and shortly later i *infected* his son, who was also a good carom player with the *pool-billiards-virus* :-)

I'm waiting for the "a-ha" moment to strike me, telling me to give it up... :p

Just kidding.
I think. ;)

I owe my entire career to Pocket Point. First time I read one of his instructional posts, I went out and ran six racks of 9-ball. Light-bulb moment.

when i found out i was not playing 'whak' a mole
and when i realized that draw is not the best thing to fall back uppon.

for real though.. It was when I started to "see" my shot before it happend on the table. i.e. seeing the black thin line that follows from the cb to the point of contact to the pocket.
