Your first pool memory?

Lets bring it back.... post it below.
What was your earliest/first/most distant memory of pool? How did you get interested in pool?

The year was 1967. I had just turned 14 years old. My dad and I were on a trip to Rochester, Pa. to visit his mother. He had an uncle that was a pretty sporty pool player, and he knew that we'd be spending some nights at the local pub and playing pool with him. So on the way up we stopped in Springfield, Mo. where my dad found a pool hall to "hone" his game a bit (I had never before known my dad to have played pool) so Uncle Carl wouldn't make him look bad. It was an "old-school" pool hall, straight out of a scene from "The Hustler". It was dark, musty smelling, with nice big, beautiful tables lined single-file in a neat row from the front door to the back of the room. Not much noise except the "clacking" of pool balls. Yep, it was on that June day in 1967 that I got my first taste of pocket billiards, and I've been savoring the flavor ever since.

I ended up shooting several games of pool with Uncle Carl. I remember him telling me to shoot softer. I have a few old Kodak "Instamatic" pictures of that night (one of me down in a shooting stance).

It is a memory that I'll NEVER forget (unless I get Alzheimer's disease or somethin' :embarrassed2:).
