Hi there everyone,
Some of you have had the opportunity to do what I've done so much of in my life, travel and play pool and be in so many different little pool worlds. But so many others have not.
It's almost like parallel planets. The pool worlds are so much alike everywhere but yet they are so unique. The players are great.
I'm from Eau Claire,Wi which is about 90 miles from Minneapolis so during my life I have had the chance from time to time to go to the big city and play tougher opponents. In the process over my pool life I have made so many friends there.
Being from Wisconsin I have also made so many friends in Wisconsin. Milwaukee is about 4 1/2 hours from Eau Claire but friendships were still made there that once I came back here after many years have been rekindled. fun..........
Even the local area of Eau Claire and the surrounding area is such a great group of players at all skill levels. And some of my best friends.
And it seems no matter how long you are away from this certain area, when you go back it is just so much fun to meet everyone again plus all the other players that are new.
As I traveled around the country teaching and playing I had the chance to be in many other pool worlds. It's like every area is almost like it's own country. Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas, Galvaston, Virginia Beach, Maryland, Des moines, Alabama, Memphis, and the list goes on and on.
Each pool world is unique in it's own way but they have one huge thing in common. Overall the pool players are just the best people on the face of the planet.
The players that I'm talking about are the ones that just love the game. These are players from every part of life. And it seems no matter what that everyone fits in somewhere and is accepted on their own personal merit.
Nobody really cares about your bank account or where you work or where your from.
A friend of mine named Jim said it perfectly, When I go to the poolroom I'm Jim the pool player. I've got friends here and they really don't even know me other than Jim the pool player.
But you know What. When someone needs help they are all there to pitch in.
Kind of cool.
I really feel lucky that I can travel around and be in these different pool worlds and meet all these amazing people and players that love the game and make it a big part of their life.
Plus now coming back to these areas there are new exciting player to compete with and work with also.
And in each of these pool worlds there is usually about a dozen or so pool players that were just really good for the pool atmosphere. They also really stood out for me and I never forgot them.
In fact I get calls all the time from players asking me questions and I don't think they believe that I really remember them until I start talking about their lesson 6 months or a year ago and can remember a few distinct things that we worked on.
All of us are so special in our immediate pool world. We help make it the great place that it is.
I want to say thank you to all the players everywhere that I have met over my travels all over the USA.
Thank you for making everywhere I was just like home. You all know who you are. I wish i could name everyone but there are thousands for sure.
Plus all the players that I have met on the internet and on the phone. What a great network of people and players.
