Its not much of a story ,but i was about 8 years old and
my parents bought us a little portable pool table that folded like a card table
it was a surprise gift for me,later that day my uncle,the black sheep of the family came over and
entertained me with trick shots,like a 3 rail kick and stories of the pool room
a life of adventure and escape from the everyday life took me to far away places and pool rooms,
later i read stories about Titanic Thompson.Wimpy.Minnesota fats,eddie taylor ,Jersey Red,Ed Kelly
who would have known that I would have met,played and traveled with almost everyone?
I never played very good but my attention to the one important thing,finding and winning money
earned me the respect of my partners,my poor pool gained me the disrespect from the players
and led to some large scores
I ,of course would have done better in life had i become a doctor,but pool offered a kinda
walk on the wild side,a low rent glamour
Fortunately I ran into Mike Massey who gave me the 7 ball and played one handed.He won my
small bankroll and I quit playing,went into the real estate business and made a million dollars
I guess you could say Mike Massey made me a millionaire through pool indirectly not intentionally
By the way,that guy could really play pool
