Your Predator Z Shaft

Sarah,

Someone on the main forum mentioned that you played with a Predator Z shaft.

I'm thinking of getting one myself but have a few concerns. Could you comment on how you feel the billiard-like taper (i.e. as opposed to straight pro taper) feels if/when you ever use a closed bridge?

Thanks a bunch! Please ask me to clarify if I'm not making much sense.

PS -- Love watching you! Good luck in 2006.

papercut,

I have been using the Z shaft since May and I really like it. The taper was not a problem because the shaft is much skinnier. I like it better actually. Since the taper is more broad, somewhat like a billiard cue, it takes away the fact that it is so skinny. After a day or so I was used to the skinny shaft.

The only thing that is hard to adjust to is that you can use so much more spin. You have to be a bit more exact in order to be accurate. I know that sounds funny because you should always try to be exact, but sometimes you can get away with hitting a ball imperfect. The imperfection is magnified a bit since the shaft is skinnier.

Let me know if you decide to try it out and how you like/dislike it. Be sure to give it a little time because it will be an adjustment.

Good luck,
Sarah

Hey Sarah, Welcome back to NC, saw you in Durham last night. I play with the McDermott I/3 which is 11.75 mm at the tip and agree with your feeling about the smaller shaft size completely.. Good Luck and hope to see you at Nash Community College this week..
