Your Predictions for USA Pro Pool in 2014?

Predictions

Predictions:
The re-emergence of an aging veteran player will generate slight interest in the game on a national level. The interest will be fleeting and not enough to make a difference.
The emergence of a new pro player that turns us all on with the promise of a new level of excellence in the game, but soon finds that other areas of sport are more lucrative than pool. So he becomes nothing more than a footnote in the games history.
The Mosconi cup will examine and implement a new rule that to play in the Mosconi Cup you must play for the country in which you reside and after living in Canada a Filipino player will make his home in the Greater Los Angeles area and will soon be followed by several other native Filipino players who will also take up residence in the Western United States. At this time participation in the Mosconi Cup will be available to all players residing in the participating countries without concern of actual citizenship.
Kamui will develop several new versions of chalk and tip that we will all go ape-shit over, they will then reveal that in a desperate attempt make more money faster they have just relabeled a bunch of LePro's and a bunch of old Triangle Chalk.

Remember, you heard it here (read it) first.

Pro player's struggle to survive will continue. The tournaments will be less and less and the purses will not be adjusted to the inflation. Pool players are like coyotes . Coyotes are the longest surviviing animals. It's surviving skills are amazing and pro players can survive.

The pros will lose all relevance to the masses. Leagues will take over at the epitome of pool. APA 8's will be looked upon as pros, and APA 9's will be looked upon as untouchables. The key to good pool will be how to hold back your skill level.

Oh, wait.......it's already like that now. :frown:

I know! Someone will come along with a way to save pool for the pros.....uh, wait....that already happened, and happened again....maybe the third time will be the charm??

.....and AZ Billiard will be closly studied as a new form of world government. Mr. Wilson will assume all duties as the recognized leader of the New World Order.

In a fit of panic Barack O'Bama will launch Ralph Machio at North Korea in an attempt to finish off Kim Jong Un and stop the new nuclear threat. Ralph Machio soundly defeats the Korean leader in a race to 25 and becomes the new symbol of hope for unified 9 ball throughout the world. As Ralph begins to take over, the BCA and all other leauges fold into one all powerful American Poolplayers Association(APA). Mr Wilson will summon Rene Lyle to his lair Phoenix and they will fall in love. The new ruling couple along with their offspring will control this strange new world from the new "Royal Pool Palace" once known as Arizona State University and all billiard games and events will then fall under banner of the APA. War will cease to exist, pool will become the recognized method for settling dispute between nations. Those determined to be sandbaggers will receive an immediate death sentence. Willie Mosconi, Ralph Greenleaf, Minnesota Fats, and Paul Newman will be recognized as dieties.

...this could go on and on...

I am so conflicted. I'm rather upset. FWIW. I care...

Re: Pro pool, until there's a unified voice and body - there's no market to significantly grow. Until the pro's and promoters act in unison there's no growth with this tainted product. This american product doesn't appeal to enough sponsors! Without $$$, there's no growth. There's NO saleable product to expand upon until then. You can't sell THIS to a larger extent!

Good God - Code of conduct please. Policing and enforcement is requisite. The shit that's going on behind the scenes is not lost upon potential investors. The shenanigans is undermining, and the SECRETS the underworld keeps... It's F'g massively hurting US pro pool. PLEASE hear that.

Growing pro pool requires one step first. Clean it up!

It can't be all done in a couple months. It will take years, a lot of wisdom, experience, a willingness to believe in it enough to invest - and a lot of passion. These people with that passion and power exist....

I Mf'g hate the secrets. More than a few hold the secrets they perceive or have heard. But the culture dictates - keep 'em secrets.

Whatever, until whenever, I'll bang the rails and be rather picky as to where to choose to spend my limited pool dollars. And some, ununified nut fighters can scramble. Grow up, be the bigger person, for the betterment of all, including yoruself.

there's a bunch of "pro" cowboys running around in the US, each with a lasso around their neck. Does it tick you off?

Do they deserve better or do they derserve what they're getting?

My opinion, is... They are stuck, they are STUCK BAD. But they do deserve a better opportunity to show what they've worked so hard to be accepted as.

Well said, KK9, but I'd like to add something.

Part of the problem is that some still profess that the pro pool product in America isn't broken; that it's just fine as is but needs to be marketed more skillfully. This is in error, just as you have pointed out. Producers, promoters, and players alike must acknowledge this if American pro pool is to take a giant step forward. Until they get on the same page, they'll fail to move forward together.

Question.

In what country is pro pool doing so great?
And explain how or why it's great?

Seems to me we have the best euros living here. What are they doing here?
The pinoys come here for a 1/4 to 1/3 of the year every year.
And we have zero here.

Does pool need to be on TV to be successful? Do players need to clean up their act or do we need characters for pool to go to the next level? Whats better to watch? Two gentleman playing in the finals of a tournament or two players going head to head for lots of money. Grudge matches could be the future. An american vs foreigner on live stream. International interest. How do you get the guys that hide in the shadows to come out and play? The gambler, the hustler. Maybe some pool hall challenge matches. Don't agree players need to act like gentleman for pool to have a future. They do need to treat promoters and such with respect but not each other. People may not have liked Earls actions at the Mosconi cup but I bet they will tune in to watch him play again even if its to watch him lose. Personalities are what pool needs because the game alone is not enough.

I see DAZ betting HIGH, and taking everyone off

Lmao
NOT

he thinks he can beat SVB, oh boy is this guy become the laughing stock of pool.

If he beats SVB it will be in English 8 ball, or snooker
It won't be in

Banks
One Pocket
8 ball
9 ball
10 ball

When SVB gets done with this guy he will be wanting to play races to 1, because going to 5 against SVB he won't be able to see the finish line

What odds u giving

Where to pro baseball players come from. Little league, HS, Univ. Most sports have some form of train ground. APA might well serve to produce future pros. If it the best game in town, and a younger person takes interest APA does NOT limit their growth. It only serves as a train ground for bigger and better things down the road.
