Your Thoughts On 60 Inch Cues

I went a slightly different route. I am almost 6'3", with long arms. I thought of trying a long cue, but first Mike Webb suggested spending some short money on an extension to go in between the shaft and the butt. This was about 2 years ago, before the flood of these things on the market.

So Mike made me a 4" extension. Mine is a very thin phenolic sleeve over maple. I have a 3/8-10 joint so no insert required. I went with a G10 pin to save weight, but OMG does that pin have a nice feel! Anyway, the experiment may have backfired. I love the feel of my cue with the extension so much that I scrapped the idea of a new cue. My extension weighs just over an ounce. I don't notice that it changed the balance at all, because it is basically sending weight in both directions, which seem to cancel out.

I swear my cue has *lower* deflection with the extension, and several other people have tried it and came away with the same impression.

One of the big benefits of the extension is that I can just take it out when needed. In a tight space, or on jacked up shots, I like to remove the extension (I mean really jacked up).

Overall I am extremely happy having gone this direction.

Oh, and the main point is that a 62" cue made a HUGE improvement in my game. I am able to stroke more fluidly and with better form. My ball pocketing is up, and I feel like I can control the cue ball better. In all ways this was a great change!
