Your thoughts on outrageous cue prices

I wouldn’t pay it either but my question is .. what hasn’t gone up in price in the last few years?

The market will settle eventually it always does. The ole man use to say if people are not complaining about your prices you are not charging enough. People are paying it right now and sellers will sell what they can get for it.

even if you have nothing and in a bread line for food. if a depression hits that line will be a lot longer to wait in with smaller portions for you.

ive had my basic two piece, looking house wood cue, in my car constantly for over 50 years and still perfectly straight, thru 120 degrees humid and dry and minus 30 cold for periods of time. and may have won more money over time than any other single cue ever.
Then you have been extremely lucky.

My plain Jane cocabola andy gibert cured me of graphite it's. His standard shaft hits as well as any of my 3 graphite. In fact, it hits better . Feels better. I play better with it.
I went back to wood after using CF for almost 2 years after coming back to this game. Nothing against CF, it allowed me to envision deflection and other terms I was hearing that weren't mainstream when I stopped playing.
I went back to wood bcuz I enjoy the feel and feedback of wood. CF seemed dead to me. There's no resonance in CF compared to wood. I learned to play with deflection. Never considered it a problem until I started playing again and everyone was trying to eliminate it. Lol.
LD everything!!!
Why??
I don't see players trying to eliminate Massès. What's the difference , only on a smaller scale.
Players have gotten lazy. They want the cue to do all the work. It's called Stroke for a reason. You got it or you don't. Otherwise they'd call it cueing, or some such BS.🤣
I need to find me a hobby.🤣 Too much time on my hands.🤣
In my defense, still digging out from a foot of powder and below-Zero temps roun' hea'!!
Cabin feeva.😬🤪
Like Rabies for poolplayers.🤣

Everything is cyclical. Markets fluctuate. Prices are the cure for prices. With pool cues, it's a tough call. Will there always be a niche market for high end cues? Probably. My guess is that as the generations of folks who appreciate high end cues pass on, that market will potentially shrink. As younger folks with less disposable income become the norm, they will likely trend towards the players type cues, carbon fiber, etc. Anyone's guess, and I could be wrong.
🤷
And don't forget: high end collectibles are not for poor people!

And they say stock market and real estate is a bubble about to burst. Let's hope cue prices burst as well.
Seen it lived it felt it. 401K's were turned into 201K's over night. 2008-2011 was brutal in the real market for some and a God sent for others. Prices dropped considerably. Depending on when you bought and were you gonna live in it or flip decided if you won or lost.
I don't see that debacle ever happening again. Prices will always fluctuate but as far a bubble bursting in the housing market?
Diversify your portfolio and you'll be fine.
I'm certainly no prognosticator but I did sleep at a holiday inn express once!

not really its old seasoned wood. i have 3 cars in the same type of conditions that have cues from over 40 years in a car and none show any sign of damage.
makers dont season their wood for years like old time makers did.
Probably because they can no longer find 40 year old wood.
😉
