I've seen the video of Johnny's 150 and out. Great run in straight pool. I have great admiration for Archer's game........BUT I have never seen Archer play a game of One Pocket ever. I'm sure Johnny would be a world champion of Bands and One Pocket if he chose to take up those games at any time. I live in Savannah, Ga. and we used to have a guy here who gambled pretty high playing One Pocket. He would play Nine ball with some of the road guys if they were willing to play One Pocket. Archer comes down and the local guys says "Grab the balls Johnny, I'd Love to bet some with you......Just make sure you bring All 15 of them." ....... Johnny wouldn't play.

As for Earl......... Does he play One Pocket??

Hard to pick based on all-around game since some great players (like Archer) aren't known for their one-pocket or straight-pool skills (though Archer is capable of and has in fact I believe run a 150-and-out in a straights tourny).

So, if a player excels at only one discipline I don't discount them if they are great at it (e.g., Strickland).

Here's my list:

1. Archer
2. Strickland
3. Sigel (I know he's retired, but I still believe his all-around game is at or
near the top of American players)
4. Schmidt
5. Morris
6. Joyner
7. Daulton
8. Jones
9. Deuel/Williams/Robles
10. PoolBum (I knew I'd eventually make the top 10 if I just kept working
hard!)
E.G. Earl? I have some bad news for you, Earl has a high run in 14-1 of 409 and he doesn't even play the game. God help all the other pool players if he does take up another game or he will own them too. Most of the top straight pool players who ever lived don't have 400 ball runs in thier 30-40 year careers. Earl played the game a couple times and did it.

The only person who has witnessed Earl run 409 balls in straight pool is Earl himself. Earl has played in a few straight pool tournaments and his high run is 50- 60 balls. I really dont think earl has run 400+ balls in straight pool, maybe 9-ball but not 14.1.

Earl ran 130 in the 1999 National Straight Pool Championships at Amsterdam Billiards in NYC to win the high run prize in the event. I witnessed the run from beginning to end.
