Use your imagination.
Let's say you had an unlimited amount of money to build, design, and furnish a new pool hall suited specifically to your taste.

What would it look like?

What kind of tables would you use? How many? What size?

Would smoking and drinking be allowed? Would there be a juke box, a band, a stage?

Where would it be located?

Would house cues be made out of gold?

Let your imagination run wild.

What would it look like? It will look like a Vegas Casino/Club

What kind of tables would you use? How many? What size? 24 Gabriel's 9 ft tables with 4 1/2" corner pockets, Simonis 860. 6 10 ft Gabriels billiard tables.
Two camerass are optimally focused on each table. Any session can be video taped with split-screen capable dvr.

Would smoking and drinking be allowed? Would there be a juke box, a band, a stage? Smoking cigs will be allowed outside the balcony. CIGARS will be allowed to be smoked inside.
Jukebox will be allowed. Only Jazz, Blues and Sinatra-type music are played.
Where would it be located? Top of the world Laguna Beach or Long Beach Area. Plenty of parking and valet service on busy nights.

Would house cues be made out of gold? No such thing. All custom-made cues for rent at the counter. Jump cues not allowed. Sorry. Two tables will be designanted for one-pocketers. Both Anniversary tables with ball-return of course.

Bloody hell. I was going to respond to this but I might as well be playing at JC's place or going in with him 50/50. He pretty much just covered exactly what I wanted minus afew details. I will add my dream place is called the Pelican Club, and has a massive neon pelican out front, vegas style!

I am with JC all the way with the one proviso: no fruit/slot/poker machines. Hate those anti-social things.

Poker tables would be good though........ :P

How about including a billards museum with old cues, tables, balls, posters, etc. I like the idea of having a balcony expecially if it could over look tournament tables to provide the rail birds a view. I like the idea of having a pool hall inside of a casino. Someone should lobby for this.

I've always imagined it would be nice to have sunken play areas with railing around it to seperate the foot traffic from the players as well as allowing spectators a better view of the action. Minus a few highback chairs and tables for the players the rest of the tables, bar, etc would be outside of the railed off play areas. No more getting nudged by non pool playing drunks.

on the more realistic and practical side, i have this dream for my 'future pool room' i am a humidity nut, and refuse to play pool when it's raining unless the pool room has the air conditioning on full blast. unfortunately in the mid atlantic region, especially in this time of year, it rains while still being fairly cool outside, so most room owners skip on the air conditioning.

my dream room would have a dehumidifier underneath every table with an irrigation system built into the floor to drain each dehumidifier. my room and tables would be so dry, you'd get a nose bleed just walking in there. but, the playing conditions would be perfect.

of course, i would have to scour the country for 25 Gold Crown IIIs, the 4's just don't cut it.
