This is an observation from someone in the business for 20 plus years. I recently spent a couple of hours searching YouTube for pool table repair etc... What I saw for the most part is terrible. I think some of the videos have good intentions but just don't know or don't care to know proper techniques. I by know means believe I know everything. But I have an openmind and learn from my mistakes. I learned tons on this site. What I see out there is most guys just don't care enough about bettering themselves. It is very sad. I read the comments from people about some of these videos and instead of giving constructive criticism on how to do the job better they completly downgrade or do the opposite and tell them what a great job.WTF! If you are a newbie here or a mechanic of any caliber. Take YouTube with a grain of salt. Post questions here. If you need info and feel funny posting it send a PM to one of the senior guys. Don't go and watch a YouTube video on cushion replacement useing SUPER GLUE! I almost fell over. It is on there. This industry needs alot of help. Do your part.

I've seen some videos that are very good and some that are bad.
Problem is that people making bad ones think that they are good.

If you can't distinguish between the two.. try Talk To A Mechanic.

Trust me Pat, when I say it's an up hill battle trying to get people to work on pool tables correctly, I know, I've been trying to do that for years now with very little success because of very little support from manufacturers who don't really care who use their products. Until I stepped forward and performed the very first seminar on how to correctly install cloth on a pool table, no cloth manufacturers cared how their products were installed, they all have only cared about selling it to anyone they could. I set the stage for Championship cloth to start doing seminars, but even they have never taken the time to learn how to install their OWN cloth correctly. So, without manufacturer support, how's anyone suppose to learn how to do this work right....when even the manufacturers can't get it right:rolleyes:

Most in this section have been a great help to all of us who have done some of our own table work. You guys deserve a pat on the back, thank you. I had to do my own bed cloth because I could not find anyone local who did decent work. Thanks to this forum it turned out much better than any of the recovered tables I have seen in our area. I did not need to use duct tape or scotch tape to hold the cloth down in the corners. You cant see the slate in the pocket cut outs, and I even have the pocket "cuffs" thanks to RKC sharing how he does it. I do have a few stretch shadows that you can see along the rail from one direction but I can live with that until I get a professional up here for the next recover in the near future, at least the cloth is tight. Thanks again to the mechanics in this forum, you guys are a great asset.
