Zom's New Varney

I recently received my new Varney (got it on Friday Mr. V), and I thought I'd say a few words about my lovely new wife... I mean cue.

I got home Friday to see a lovely cue-sized box waiting for me on the pool table. It was Christmas come early as I carefully cut into the package to reveal the gorgeous new cue. First off, the pictures don't do it justice. The Purpleheart looks amazing and it goes great with the rosewood. I stood there holding the cue and I felt like I shouldn't be... I wanted to put it in a glass case. The next step was to take it to Eddie's and play it.

The weight was a little heavier than my previous one, or should I say my previous one was lighter than my new one, because once I relaxed and stopped worrying about hurting my new baby the cue played fantastic, nigh perfect. I don't know anything about the science of cuemaking but the whatever it is, it seems to just "play itself" if you will. It has great balance an it shoots straight as an arrow. It hits wonderfully and I soon found out that I didn't have to put much into the shot to get the ball to do what I wanted. The wedding is in 2 weeks and you are all invited.

I absolutely love my new Varney. It is the best cue I've ever played with, and I've tried out lots of other cues borrowed from shooters at my poolhall. Now all I need is to get one of his J/B cues an I'll be ready for anything. Also, thanks for the T-shirt Mr. V, I'll wear it proudly.

Extra note: I was just thinking about my hustler and how people constantly pick it up and play with it even though if you look at it for longer than 2 seconds and shoot one ball with it you'd know that it wasn't a housecue. Well what the hell is up with people getting pissed at you when you ask for your sneaky back? As if you are inconveniencing them by asking for your cue back... sheesh

Thank you very much for the kind words buddy! Glad you are pleased. I kind of thought you might like the way it hit. Yours is the 1st one I made using the "new" type Aegis ferrule material. After I hit a few balls I was grinning too. I don't know if the new material helps that much or its just a great wood combo...I do know it has a very special "hit". A true "players" cue and only takes spending a few minutes with it to know its a keeper.:)
This is the best part of being a cuemaker...it only could of been better if I was there to enjoy it with you.:) Now go immediately back to the pool room and start booking some winners.:D

Zom....let me know if you want to send your Varney hustler back to me and take me up on my offer to convert it into a j/b for free. It'll make a fine j/b with the addition of a few choice parts.:)
