I live in Texas so not lucky enough to have a bsmt. Is there any issue putting a 9 footer on the 2nd story? Weight wise, not concerning stairs turning sharp angles. Thinking a perfect solution is a 1.5 story with big gameroom upstairs. Loud breaks won't disturb family and good privacy too.
