The shape of the pocket can have a large impact on how easy it plays. A huge factor is how far from parallel the facings are.
I don't think your pro is the norm. Even the Fillers have 4.125" pockets on their home table.
He actually posted a pic to his socials today showing how tight his pockets are. Facings look pretty parallel.

They appear marginally smaller than an American pool table, and this is noticeable.
It seemed similar to an 8 foot American pool table.

Have you ever attempted to play with a very warped pool cue, and did it bother you, and were you able to pot balls with it consistently?

Thanks a lot for the info. So, if I do not mark the joint of the shaft at the highest point of its roll out, and shoot with that side facing up, then I might miss, no matter what. That makes sense. I will test both ways, just out of curiosity. Maybe do some straight in, long shot drills, to see how bad the warp really throws me off. I really just miss playing, lol. Thanks for your help.
It helps if you mark it, only thing is if you don't know where the the taper rises, you could miss anything.on a short bridge its ok, on longer bridge length, that taper comes into play more.
Another way is to hold the butt in the same place every time. Look at it the other way around, a badly warped butt, which can make shaft roll awful. even a brand new one. As i said, if your able use it, you will be able to use anything after that.

I might be mistaken but I think the table and balls are broadly the size of American pool with pockets the size of a snooker table.

Not tried it, but it looks like the hardest form of pool.

Glad they're not using that daft sexist blue and pink ball set that they tried to market (badly) as some Yin Yang 阴阳 intangible Chinese culture... Shame they keep in the free ball for women, and under 18s, to save face for men who would for the most part likely lose anyway...

I think Joy has set standards for all tournaments. Duya standards differ slightly (I like that they squared off the jaws a little, much more interesting to watch than Chinese 8-ball. Refuse to call it "heyball" - it's supposed to mix Chinese and English together 黑 for black and ball. Sounds dumb af).

For a league amateur (300-400 level) it would be rare to make more than 1 ball in an inning. Pros can handle them all right but their patterns need to change.

I’ve run out on one before but it was with a very easy layout with no balls on any rails. Side pockets can play bigger than some modern tricked up 9-ball tournament tables you see pros play on.

Cue shaft talk

I use carbon fiber because i hated certain charastics of wood. The stickiness that would happen, swelling and temperature shifts that would change the properties of the shaft. With carbon these things do not happen
Yes I think those are the reasons many players use carbon fiber, and they are good reasons. It's hard to get the feel of wood from a carbon fiber shaft, but I think you have to live with a bit of deflection to get the feel of wood. I can play with either, but it push came to shove, wood is nice for me for feel. I go back and forth a lot.
