The search feature won't recognize words with (3) letters or less, but do a search on "milkdud" and several threads will pop up that will explain them. In short, soaking tips and pressing them makes them harder. Consult the threads located via a search for other details/opinions.

There are many threads on milkdud tips. Many AZ-ers sell their own version of the tip. fiftyfifty and golfparent both sell their own version. From what I read, the tips originated in the Philipines, and players like Efren Reyes uses these tips. The tips usually start out as elk masters, others have used lepros and triangle tips. Usually after the tips are soaked in milk, or other dairy products, they are put into a vice for a certain amount of time to harden the tip. The tip plays like a hard tip that has the ability to part spin like a soft tip, without the negative affects like mushrooming. If you want to try one, send me a PM or contact the AZers listed above.

Hey Ryan, I bought 50 of them last week. They are the nuts as far as I am concerned so far. No mo moori's for me. I am also using them on my carom cue it will be interesting to see if there is any mushrooming with the heavier carom balls.

Bludworth came up with the idea 20 years ago. A fatty compound in milk, acts as a glue. When the leather fibres are pressed together, the compound holds them in place. This keeps the tip somewhat soft and less likely to mushroom.

We sell them as "Dudley" tips.

I start with elkmaster and use a pneumatic press so I can control the pressure.

Is ther some type of special press you have to use as well??

Any way to put pressure on is OK but I believe you would have much better results if you used some type of mold so that when you pressed them you would condense the leather and not just flatten them out. Certainly easy enough to make, just a .500 to 1 inch metal plate with a hole drilled completely through just large enough for the tip to fit into and a short rod that also fits the hole. On a press or vice, drop in a tip or as many that will fit and then rod and compress. Bingo! If you want you can make the rod concave to match the tip so that it doesn't flatten out.

Actually, you can add an * after any 3 letter word and the 3 letter words will show up that way.

dud*
cue*
pin*
tip*

and so on.

About 25 years ago John Oganowski (Loree Jon's dad) had a machinist friend make a press that kept the tip's configuration after they were soaked in milk.

He would soak the tip for a couple of days and then leave the tip in the press for a couple of days, until they dried.

He swore me to secrecy at that time but I guess the cat is out of the bag now.
