Lets all dog on APA

A pyramid scheme is based on multiple levels, with the entities at the top benefitting from the entities at the bottom.

If an APA team splits up, that just means one more team - they're still in the same group, the same level. There are two levels in an APA league - the LO (top) and the teams (bottom).

I just think "pyramid scheme" is one of those loaded terms that folks will throw out to try and make their point emotionally rather than factually. *shrug* Sorta like when the terms "nazi" or "gestapo" come out in forum arguments. :P

In APA's case the LO is on the top and everybody pays him :)

I actually was given a cuetec cue with a APA logo on it for recruiting 5 players. YES! It was what I always wanted. Actually when I go out and a friend forgets his cue he gets to use the cuetec. I wont touch it was a 10' pole :D

I am not sure why it bothers me so much, but marking the pocket on the 8-ball is just crazy. If two SL8's are playing I think they know what pocket the other person is going to pocket the 8-ball in.

When I play and it is against a 5 or better I will mention that it is ok to call the pocket. I have never had the other player not agree to it.

I was playing a match recently and had to go to 5. When I was on the hill I broke down my break cue. The other teams's captain wanted to penalize me for "forfeiting". I guess the fact that I would not need to break again in that match seemed to elude them.

Actually this will be my third and last session with APA. The only positive is that I like my teammates. In the beginning it was fun but the cons outweigh the pros for me.

I was in a bar once and heard a story about a team playing to go to Vegas and during a match a woman called a time out and they told her to shoot her ball into her opponents ball and play safe. Needless to say she shot one of her balls into one of her opponents without using the cue ball. About half the balls on the table moved and they called the league operator over for a ruling and he said " just put them all back where you think they were ". I thought to myself what a joke. Read more funny stories like this at WWW.APA.NIT

I walked up to the table and had ball in hand. I was studying the table and I seen whitey out of the corner of my eye and reached down to pick it up. It was the 9 ball. No foul just had to put it back.

I have also seen other players shoot the 9 ball as the CB. Most of the time this happens latter in the evening when the players have had a few.

Well I guess i really don't have much to complain about since I've only been in the APA for 4 weeks . Exept that last week I was keeping score for the first time and this girl that was at the table and tried to make her shot but when she shot her Hoodie jacket sheve made the nine 9 ball in the corner and just so happens that My captin wasn't playing attention and neither was any of my teamates or the other team didn't' see it but when it was time to put the 9 back on the table they were like retards at a Circle jerk .

So since i was the only one paying attetion I went over and told them where it was originaly at and they still looked at me like i was nuts so I took it opon myself to spot the 9 where it was and walked back to my seat and my Captin told me to never over rule him again or else  , I'm not afraid .;)

Nine ball should be up to 25 at least. The skill levels can up to 9. The way it is now means the team must play quite a few ones, two, and threes.

The worse is for the womens league. They can only field teams to total up to 19. The women are all getting better and should have the team level raised to 23 for eight ball.

Expensive. $30 a week. $25 a year. Table fees.

They also make it appear as if you get a lot back in prize money. They advertise the big Million dollar payout. I haven't seen it. The one team that gets "sent" to Vegas doesn't even get enough to cover the expenses of getting there.

Our local APA thought it was a good idea to put survey forms in the folders to weed out the bad sportsman players... they didnt think that the bad sportsman players would team up and vote out a good person.

Um, no. It is not anything near what a pyramid scheme is.

But, the spirit of your post is correct - the 23 rule helps ensure that as people improve, teams split up and (hopefully, for them) form new teams and bring in new players to fill the gaps.

I also think that this also promotes sandbagging. Players don't want to raise their skill level because they know there is nothing to gain from it.

Right on. I saw an APA 3 do this last week http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHffyitzQfA&feature=related

I heard they are now enforcing the 20 second shot rule! I think pros get more time than this. For an amateur player, esp a lower ranked player, 20 seconds is sometimes not enough. I Completely understand how people abuse this and take 1,2,3 mins to shoot a shoot, but maybe 45 seconds or so would be better than 20! IMO

Expensive For Players?

IN NEW ORLEANS AND SURROUNDING PARISHES THE BAR OWNER PAYS FOR ALL THE TEAMS TO PLAY. MOST GET FREE TABLE TIME WHEN PLAYING ON NON-COIN OPERATED TABLES. WE PAY $35 TO $50 PER TEAM HOME AND AWAY.

the 23 rule is acceptable but not being able to play a 7,7,6,2,1 beacause of some horrible rule about not being allowed to play 3 high players (high player =6 or above). I think its bad enough to have to sit and watch a 2 and 1 play. i shouldnt be penalized for fitting in the original point parameters.

Also wtf was vegas about. 7' valley bar tables with huge cueballs that dont roll straight. The apa is making millions and we play on crap tables when we make it to vegas. Then the bca comes in and plays on amazing 7' diamond that are brand new. And the apa boosted the annual membership up to 25 bucks now. People are getting rich off of this and I have to play with a damn bacchi ball for a cue ball on a table thats not level. We should just qualify for vegas and when we get there play dance dance revolution. Its not even fair to the people that practice with good equipment to get there and adjust to things that play like something made by a recreational factory warehouse. Or let me use my own cueball at least.

Cool! Unfortunately that isnt the case around here. Not sure how many places do it this way but I haven't heard of it until your post.

BTW- I think your caps lock button might be broken :D

I actually made a topic complaining about the 7' tables. IMO 7 footers suck in general. 8' or 9' please. I care not if it is a bar box just don't make me play on a 7 footer.

7 fters are bar boxes arnt they, but I do agree about the conditions in Vegas, Ive been there a few times and the tables in the mini room are a joke. How about those rails, its always a good sign when you can hear the cueball hit the wood (thud). Bend me over, and make me say thank you should be the slogan of the APA.

Oh yea dont forget the dollar a rack BS, not making any money there
