Wireless Routers, good or bad for pool?

personally, I would have to say that they are good for pool. I can't stand going into a pool room lugging 40-50 feet of ethernet cable. It's not only a bother to me but to whomever I'm playing also, stepping over all those loose wires and moving cables out of the way of the pockets.

It's just all an uneccesary hastle that has been solved with the advent of the wireless router, pool's silent friend.

My problem is with all the bits and bytes flying around while I'm shooting.

Very distracting.

I find that with the newer routers if I enable WPA I get less deflection off the cue ball when hit it, then with the older WAP.

Also when caulking one up, use the blue masters as it compliments the stock green led..

You're living in the past buddy. WPA-2 is the 2nd gen WPA with even less deflection. Combine that with an AES tip and you've got a killer combo. Some people like TKIP though... whatever makes you play better.

i have to say they are bad for pool. i still use a commodore 64 and the wireless routers boggs down the feed during TAR matches.

Wireless routers are very good for pool, but they just can't keep the SPAM out...that's the biggest drawback.

aren't the WPA-2s only 11.75mm though?? Too skinny for me :p

Does anyone know which custom router John Schmidt uses? I'll never be able to make a ball or view a website until I find this out and then buy it for myself:(

worthless

I have tried a wireless router befroe and found them to be quite underpowered. The batteries don't last very long either. If you have a big job, say widening the pockets on 20 tables, you'll spend some time recharging the batteries.

I much perfer the old stand by 3 HP Plunge type Router with a 20 foot 12ga. three wire extension cord. Most pool halls have plenty of outlets that will allow you to reach each pocket quite easily.

I guess, if you're only going to do one table, the wireless routers will get the job done. Remember to sharpen those bits afterwards...slate is really hard on them.

I don't believe they cause cancer, but you can sure cut out that cancer with a good Router if you find one.

that's cuz you tried a Black and Decker wireless router from Walmart....spend a bit more on a German made one...sheesh

You guys are great. Two different meanings for wireless router put into word-play making fun of the internet thread.

For some reason when I read Skunkyboy's post I immediately thought of the sausage stand they have in front of a lot of Home Depots. I think I'm hungry.

wow, nobody is going to post a survey on whether global warming is good/bad for pool? I don't even know what to say.
