I am going to purchase a Predator Sneaky Pete with a 314-2 shaft, i was wondering what the difference is in wood to wood or their stainless steel joint? is either one better or is it just what your prefer?

The word 'better' is quite subjective. Go with what you prefer. I shot with a Meucci sneaky/red dot (wood to wood) for ~10 years and I'm now shooting with a Schon LTD with a s/s joint. I like em both.

Welcome to the forum, btw.

All in your preference. I will say that I feel the steel joints are more rugged as far as chipping or whatnot if it gets nicked on the table. The SP joints that have no rings nick very easily from my experience.

Overall, given the similarity of the options, the joint joinery changes the ballance point of the stick (at a given overall weight). I find the wood-wood joint to be less nose heavy than the steel joint. Whichever one feels better in your hands, and gives you the feedback during the hit is the one you should choose.

Does the wood to wood Predator Sneaky come with joint protectors?

Thanks

I would buy a bigger case, because whether you know it or not, you will probably end up with at least one more cue, lol. I bought a new 3 butt six shaft porper a couple months ago, and its already full, so go bigger.

I was thinking the same thing maybe buying a 2x2 because I want to get my own break cue somewhere down the road but i am still a well above average bar player, I am looking to step my game up, but a 2x2 case and a jump/break cue went over my budget. Maybe just the bigger case for now and a new break cue down the road, good advice thank you.

I'd go with a 2x4 so you can (eventually) carry extra shafts. Comes in handy when a tip comes loose, etc.

I feel that the wood to wood has a softer hit compared to a S/S joint. S/S joints tend to have a stiffer hit. Maybe it is just me though.

As for the bigger case, I would definately recommend it. I have a Sterling 3x6 case and I love it. You cannot go wrong with a bigger case. I started with only one cue 3 months ago, it was a package deal and I got a 1x1 with it. Now I have the 3x6 case filled (except for 3 shaft slots). Where exactly are you ordering all of these stuff from, you can probably buy from one of the vendor who is an AZB member or post an ad in the wanted section for some of the items you are looking for, just trying to help save you some money. There are some great deals on here. Good luck.

A Tip Tapper
A Porper Tip Burnisher
A Tiger Leather Burnisher
A Q Smooth Set

IMO these are unnecessary. Q-wiz / willard dime shaper will ruff up the tip if you do it lightly just as well if not better than a tip tapper (deep holes are not always the best). You can burnish a tip with a dollar bill or the logo side of a Q-wiz, and also burnish the shaft with it as well. And it will fill silky smooth just burnished, compared to any shaft conditioner I have used. I have the Q-wiz and willard and that is all I use.. and an old toothbrush to clean out the shaper and sometimes magic eraser before q-wizzin'

Lastly, for a case, if I was in your position, which I was, I would get one of these cases:

I just received a dark red one. It is hard (my main objective) and I believe it will fit the long Kaiser 30.5" shaft. It looks great, people think I paid much more. I don't really have much to compare it to, though, but I did make a post in the best bang for the buck case thread and a couple people agreed all you need is a hard shell. they also come in blue and brown with the black. 2x2, 2 pouches, hard shell.. $28.45 shipped?? Bunch on ebay.

I actually have these following items:

I have :
1. Q-wiz
2. Q-Smooth package
3. Willard Dime
4. Q-clean
5. Sandman tip shaper that came with a tip burnisher (I really like it)
6. Porper Shaft Polisher

I really like the Q-smooth package, but if you need anything to clean your shaft, nothing beats the magic eraser and than using the Q-Smooth. After that, I just seal it with some Q-wax. I actually got two bottles of Q-Silk, and I hated the stuff. With a predator SP and sooner you will get another cue, I'd at the very least go with a Sterling Case, they are good cases for the price, hard to beat. Very sturdy. I wouldn't even waste my money on a cheaper case, with a cue case, you get what you pay for. Just my .02. Because very soon, you will want a better case.

I thank you greatly for that bit of information, i dont think i am going to get the tapper, or the tip burnisher.

I wouldnt have added the Tiger Leather Burnisher or the Q Smooth Set if i knew the Q-wiz did all that. No wonder its has such good ratings.

As far as cases i think i am pretty set on the 2X2 Porper Square Signature Cue Case, i would like to hear what some people have to say about them though, if anyone has a Porper Square Signature Series case.I think they look good.
Do they wear quickly?
Nice lining?

They also give me the option to upgrade to the Predator Z-2 Shaft instead of the 314-2 that comes with it, they want $21.25 for the upgrade should I get the Z-2? as this will probably be my main play cue for a while.

I just seal it with some Q-wax.

How do you do this exactly, and do i really need it, i figure my shaft isnt going to get beat up i wont use talc on it its going to be burnished and i am using a sir joseph glove?

I've only had the 1x1 Porper but for the money they are pretty decent. Mine is going on 7 years old and is still going strong. I have a bunch of more expensive cases now but my first pool cue (Viking purchased same time as the case) is still sitting in it and gets loaned to friends without cues when we play together.

I would echo other who say go with a 2x4 though. Always nice to have extra space for a couple more shafts and the price difference is pretty minimal.

Good luck with your purchase!

I have the pred sneaky four point and I'm pretty happy with it. I sometimes think though if I was to start over, I might have bought the SS jointed version, but I really like the low key look of the wood to wood.

Most, maybe all professionals I've seen using a predator have a SS joint so that might be something to factor in.

Again, good luck!

I was just thinking maybe it would offer a firm hit, do you notice any significant difference hit in a steel joint compared to your wood to wood?

I actually like the Q-Smooth better than the Q-Wiz, the q-wiz is a quick fix, but the q-smooth get it smoother, at least I think so personally. As for the application of wax, many people have their own personal opinions about it, some like it, so like their shaft just cleaned and burnished with leather. I don't use the wax very often, though, after a good clean just apply the wax on the shaft, let it sit for a while and use a smooth cotton cloth to buff it off and half way burnish it with the cloth until the cloth get warm. I don't think you will have much of a problem since you have a glove. I would also recommend getting a micro fiber cloth to help keep your shaft clean after everytime you play. This helps keep the shaft clean and smooth a lot longer.

Hope this helps man. Good luck.

Happy shooting! :)
