I never intended to meet Brent at all... but I'm happy that I did
A few weeks back, I placed an order for a cue with Brent.
The whole time while we were discussing the cue's design via email, Brent assumed that I was somewhere on the other side of the world haha
After finalizing the cue's design (~150 emails
)... he asked where I lived and realized that I'm only a few hours out from where he lives.
He persuaded me to come visit and see the process of cuemaking.
I was reluctant to go at first since he scared me by saying I could stay at his place for a couple of days.
I thought that was extremely generous of him, so generous that it scared me (thought I was going to get kidnap!
)
However, my school's spring break was coming up and I didn't have any plans, so I decided to go anyway.
Thought it be good for me to escape the city life for a few days.
Took me about 4-5 hours to get to Cincinnati, Ohio.
When I got there, Brent, his wife, and 2 of his friends welcomed my girlfriend and I to Ohio.
I got a little tour of the house and the workshop. It is quite peaceful where he lives.
Sadly enough, I didn't bring a camera so no pictures, SORRY!
Brent and his wife are very kind and humorous.
Talking to them was like talking to my friends. We all acted like a bunch of little kids
.
I did not get bored at all during my visit there.
Even my gf enjoyed her time there, and it's kind of hard to entertain her
especially when she doesn't have access to the internet.
The 3 days I spent there consisted of: eating, sleeping, watching tv, watching Brent work on his cues, and a few games of 8-ball.
I wish I got to play with one of his cues, but he didn't have one that I could use during that time.
But I got to see a lot of his cues in progress, so it balanced out.
It was a nice experience overall going to see Brent.
I learned a lot about cue making and about Brent himself.
I'm glad to be having a cue made by him.
Thank you Brent for the fun times, say hi to your wife for me and tell her I miss her cooking already .
I'm glad I got the both of you to actually eat on your dining table!
The only pictures I have of my time there was when we both were shooting pool together and also a couple of pictures of my cue in progress
(Thanks for taking the pictures Brent)
