Black phenolic ferrule......opinions and facts please.

I was considering using black phenolic material for the ferrule of an upcoming playing cue project I am working on. I just wanted to know what choices of black phenolic material are out there that I can use. I was also wondering if they are stronger than the average white phenolic material. Please let me know pros and cons characteristically wise...........

Joey is it more durable than white phenolic though, as far as worrying about cracking or chipping is concerned? I like the fact that it's black but I also need to know that it's a strong material that'll last and withstand a beating.

I've installed several, and they are harder to keep clean than white . They work fine, but maybe a better idea , magic marker and only the left side. Really tho one gut wont play with anything but black. jim

White phenolic as in cueball?
Linen or canvas phenolics are plenty durable.
IF you really want one in black and not have all that heavy mass ( for a playing cue ) I suggest a buffalo horn but with a backer.
