Radial pin difference?

Hey all,

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the radial pins that come on the Lucasi's vs. the radial that comes on the higher end custome cues? Are the shafts interchangeable?

I am not sure what that means, but as far as I know, Radial is Radial.

There is a possibility that the threads may at a different angle or something.

However, overall, Radial is Radial.

A radial is not a radial. The are knock offs of the original. Some of them have different threads per inch.

i deleted my post. what i said was that they were totally different, which after i posted it, i looked at a picture of a lucasi and it looked the like the radial pin im used to. however, older lucasi's had uni-lock joints which i have seen refered to as "radial". those are the ones i was originally refering to and said they were different.

Thanks but I'm referring to the regular radial (screws directly into the wood in the shaft) pin not the piloted uni-loc.

Unilock also has a Radial pin into wood as well as their quick release.
Their radial is not the same as the one I sell.
Don't really know the difference.
 
There are a few different "radial looking pins" out there. I do cue repairs and I honestly don't know how many versions there are.

The original one is made by "Unilock". Unilock is the company (they also make the pin of the same name). There are knock offs that are exactly the same and interchangeable, and there are knock offs that are slightly different and not interchangeable. Unfortunately its not easy to tell the difference between the interchangeable ones and the ones that are not. And its impossible to tell from a picture.

I've seen the knock offs called "ball screws" and "bone screws", and of course simply "radial"

I've personally been lucky in that I haven't come across a knockoff during the course of my repair work.
 
Ok so here's an update in case anyone other than me gives a sh*t.

The reason for my initial inquirey was that I recently purchased a discontinued model Lucasi LE4 with a radial pin. The LE4 is sort of a Southwest knockoff with an Ebony (stained maple maybe?) forearm and 6 Ivorine hi/low points. I've always kind of liked this model and because I'm just getting back into the game after a long layoff I thought I'g give it a try so I wouldn't have to spend a ton of cash in case I decide I still do not want to play. Well long story short, I assumed that I wasn't going to like the original shaft because of the long pro taper. I prefer something closer to 10"-12" not the 15" the is standard on the Lucasi cues. I was correct in my assumption and I hated the Lucasi shaft.
I have an old shaft laying around that I bought to go with my Thomas Wayne Titlist conversion I had when I played 5 years ago and it happens to be a radial pin. I tried that and a shaft from my friend's Steve Klien and they both fit. So if any of you are wondering if an additional shaft will fit your Lucasi radial pin cue the answer is yes, it's a standard radial pin that most of the custom cue makers are using.
I was a bit worried they wouldn't be the same after a conversation with Mike Webb as he was under the impression that the pin on the Lucasi's was different. I am happy to report that it's not.
