Did you say shrubberies?

and looking for a friendly game or two or ten. Anyone in the area?

And where is a good place to shoot?

Hard Times is only about 15-20 minutes away in Bellflower. Thats all you need to know about the area really.

I believe they do some tournaments at place called Yankee Doodles in Long Beach. Pool hall/Sports bar.

You need to go to Hard Times. One of the great pool halls and if you're looking for action you will find it. FYI, the tables in the tournament room are distinctly tighter. This is a pool hall: no bar, music is not loud, not much in the way of food.

Further away but also worth the stop and see is Hollywood Billiards. Gold Crowns, the downstairs tables are very tight. Full bar and very good food.

Enjoy your stay!

Hot Shots

Let's not forget about Hot Shots. It's a fairly new place (1 year old) in Cypress. It's also pretty close to long beach. It's a nicer environment than some pool halls and they have good food here. Actually, the food here is great. The tables are probably as fast if not faster than hard times.

Thanks

Thanks for all the good info guys. I heard that Yankee Doodles is just right down the road from me, so I think I check it out first. Anyone wanna up for a meet and greet there?

Hey big dog,

I see in your profile you are an MK1; I work for the USCG as a corporate trainer. Where are you located?

Josh,

I'm down in S. Orange County so it's a bit of a haul for me to get up your way. I may be able to get up to Hard Times one day for a couple of hours. What's your schedule? Can you play during the day or are you free only at night? When are you leaving?

Someone around here can probably hook up with you.

Thanks for the thought. I am here until Thursday and I am free from about 4PM to when ever. I could meet you (or anyone else) half way at Hard Times or another place; Just let me know.

I just got back from Yankee Doodles tonight. I had a good time practicing on the GC's, but it was by my self; not much to speak of in there tonight.

The 9 ball tournament at Yankee is on Sat AM.

There is an 8 ball tournament at Charles in Glendale (30 min drive) on Thurs PM.

Hey Buster, there is a fun tournament in Orange tonight at a place called Danny K's. It's a nice room with a full bar and good food. $12 entry single elim. race to your handicap. You get to play fairly long races, the handicap system is games on the wire. 1st place is usually around 75-90 bucks, but it often ends up being split because the long races make the tourney last until closing time which I think is 12 or 12:30 tonight. You might even find some cheap action in the form of me depending on how you play. You will want to get there around 5 or 6 at the latest so we can handicap you or you might end up getting rated too high. PM me for my phone number if you need more info.
The address is 1096 N. Main St. ● Orange, CA 92867 ● (714) 771-9706.
If you want to get a couple cheap sets in before it starts, PM me and I'll meet you there
