US Open 1989 tournament chart

Oh, thanks :)
I want to know, against whom Mike Sigel has lost. Also interesting, how Ortmann made his way through the tournament.

Wow, that's a toughie.

Ortmann won the title in 1989 by beating Mizerak in the final, and Sigel ran a 150 and out against Rempe, but I have no idea who beat Sigel.

14.1 in 1989

Steve Mizerak defeated Sigel 150-8 with a run of 104.

Accu-Stats used to have this on tape.

I was there<Detroit> - it was a one-off sponsord by I. W. Harper -
still have the hat. But enough about me:)

My best guess would be Varner - IIRC - Ortman came out of
the losers bracket to play Miz. Again, I think he beat Varner
in the semis, which would mean Nicky must have beaten Mike...or not

What I DO recall is that Oliver was a 22 year old 'kid' that no one
had ever heard of who was raining 100s on shell-shocked champions.

Lou Butera, Weenie Beanie, Dallas West, and Varner all got turned into
spectators. Nick who was at his peak, and felt to be playing the best pool
of any living human at the time, was ahead something like 84 - 0
and got beat.

Them was the days...

My memory is not crystal clear, but I do recall Miz won the
winners bracket and Ortman won from the losers side.

Qliver then defeated Miz in a one-game Final to 200 points,
all other matches were 150 points.

IIRC - Ortman's winners bracket victories were Lou Butera,
Bill 'Weenie Beanie' Stanton, and Dallas West in rounds 1, 2 and 3
respectively. I also recall his victory over Varner, which, I beleive,
was in the losers bracket. What I can not remember for the life of me,
is who defeated Ortman in the winners - tho it may well have been Miz??

Having seen many a 14.1 World Tourney over the years, I can tell you
I have never seen such a wild, emotional reaction from the crowd
as broke out when Ortman pocketed that 200th ball.

I think you're right. I'm fairly certain it was Varner who knocked Sigel out.

Thank you all.
@Ed, iI can't find this video in the accu stats store.

@Dave, I'm really jealous of you.

Accu-Stats tape

Simple---

The Mizerak-Sigel tape number was 14SP-09.
Try e-mailing Pat Fleming at Accu-Stats. He often keeps copies of tapes that are no longer listed in the catalog.

Cheers
