Good bar tables

Is it possible to buy a good bar table? Most bars have tables with very inconsistent rails. Is it the bar table or the way they are used? I know many people think that since the table is strong that it is ok to sit on it. They don't know that they are destroying the rails. But can you buy a table with reliable good playing rails?

THE DIAMOND TABLES ARE THE NUTZ......

A VALLEY OR A COUGAR CAN ALSO PLAY GREAT/TRUE, AS LONG AS IT HAS GOOD RAILS, GOOD FELT, AND IS MAINTAINED PROPERLY.

HECK, I HAD AN IMPERIAL 7 FOOTER THAT I HAD INSTALLED AT MY PARENTS PLACE, AND THAT TABLE ALWAYS PLAYED GREAT/TRUE.

yeah, Diamond Smart Tables or the 7 foot Diamond Pro-am (non coin-op) are the triple nuts. I plan on getting one in the near future when I finish the basement on the house I just bought.

Vette,

Why would a big time guy like you, mess with a wimpy ass bar rag ?

You need a 9' Diamond Pro, as befits your stature.

If you can afford a Vette, why would you drive a '75 pinto ? (assuming you have enough room, If not.....wrong house !!! )

Dick,

I like running 5 or 6 balls, and as little as I play it's all I need in my house. I absolutely love the Diamond bar boxes. The only time I actually play is when I go to a tourney or something and just feel like gambling while waiting to go out. By the way, the smart tables aren't that much cheaper than the 9 footers although I wish that were the case.

4 sure

I'll never understand why some of you have such didain for a barbox. Especially when you consider that most of you can't even consistently get a 4 or 5 pack on them. Strange that Keith, Buddy, Dave, and a slew of others think they are perfectly good tables. Do the bigger tables make you feel better when you miss? Or what?

If you really think about it, at most, the table is only 2' longer. Most shots are not rail to rail, so in reality, you are only shooting about 6"-12" farther on most shots. If that little makes that big a difference to you, it's in your head.

Well Said... tuff to work around a bar box.... 8 ball

I have a Valley which I put fast cloth and new rails on. I bought Aramith Pro balls and the table plays better than a new one. Johnnyt

Back to your question here. Yes you can still get some great Bar Tables. I have seen just about every kind of table out there. Yes the Diamonds are the best but to me they just don't play like a BB. Vally makes a great BB and you can get a new one for around 2 grand and used for 1K to 1300. If you find a good used one you can always buy a new set of rails for it from Muller and put some fast cloth on it and you will be good to go. If you find one used i can give you a few pointers on things to look for. Just PM me and i will call you. I hope this helps, Doug

i dont think

that the problem with bar tables isn't our disdain for the size. It's the disdain for the way they play when in your local rool room its the bangers slammers and kids that destroy the tables and the way they play as opposed to the sides. I love bar tables, but there's not a decent table that's less than 4x8 in our pool room because the non pool players have killed the rails, the cloth and the balls. There's one particular bartable in my local room that needs to be 100% refitted. New rails, new cloth new balls new coin op tray.

So to me it's not the bar table itself or size its the way these table play after the mistreatment they've endured. Just my humble opinion.
