How to improvce my home table

I'm ready to sink some dough into my home table, a Presidential 8-footer, three-piece slate.

For openers, I'll replace the cloth with Simonis, unsure yet which weave but looking for suggestions. Then I'd like to add Artemis cushions (again, unsure of which profile) and shim the pockets to tournament size, whatever that is.

Nothing I can do about pocket shelves, etc., and I've already added leather pockets, which I like much better than the standards buckets.

Anything I'm overlooking? Thanks for your suggestions.

The single biggest improvement you can make to your table is to call this number:

Bigtruck hit this one right on the nose. Once i build my poolroom addition off the back of my garage and get a Diamond Pro i'll be calling him too. Now i just have to get back to work, this lay-off is killing me!

What's the opinion on Artemis? Which profile should I select?

What about the Simonis? The 860, or is there a Simonis cloth that's impregnated with a protectant?

Any other suggestions?

Who said anything about a Diamond. We just said to have Glen come by and fix your table up.

I would knock out 2 extra feet length-wise and width-wise, and install a 9'er:grin-square:

Nothing wrong with artemis. K-66 profile is what you will want.
I've had the regular 860 for a while(5-6 years) on my diamond and just recently got 860HR from BigTruck(Ray-thank you). It is spose to last longer, hold up better,protect from ball burns more, and play a tad faster.

As for getting a table mechanic(such as realkingcobra) to do these things for you(especially put on your rails) I would HIGHLY recommend this!!! I had someone do my rails for me that wasn't a true 'table mechanic' and I am now regretting it.

Good luck and if I could suggest anything to you, Do it right the first time even if you have to pay a little extra for someone to do it for you.

Thanks for the responses, especially from ykndoit, who seems to know of what he speaks. And I will call Glenn to see if and when he could do this work for me. I was under the impression that he did Diamond tables, but didn't know he'd work on other brands.

I notice that there's another thread asking for opinions on Simonis, and this thread has run about six pages long. Guess I'll go there for more info. Again, thanks.
 
you can change the rubber pockets to leather...how...can you just get the leather pocket. I hate the sound the crappy plastic pockets make when the balls drop in.

I don't shim pockets to make them tighter, I extend the rails to make them longer as to avoid the need for additional shims. Depending on what else needs to be done, like releveling the slates, repairing rail nut plates and such, my starting price is $500 labor...if I'm in the area already;)

This is the extention on a Brunswick 9ft home table I did for Miles in Las Vegas.

Thats what I'm asking..lol Do you have the kind of pockets where the whole pocket is hidden. Sorry I don't know how to explain it. I'm assuming if that is how your table is then I guess you just bought the leather webbing for the pocket?

No, these are recessed pockets hidden within the table, but fully leather. Made by an outfit in Wisconsin.

I think they play better than the standard pockets, and I love the sound of a well hit ball when it hits the leather. Sort of like a catcher's mitt.

Buy a good quality rack, like the Delta 13, and a set of Super Aramith Pro Billiard Balls.
