Troy H and Victor, Vic came to me and said he was gonna play this game and didnt have a stake. I went to justin and obviously we put the money up. Vic won the first 4 games going 5 ahead. Then back down to 1 then back up to 5. Troy honestly just made mistakes he normally dont. around 3am Vic won, about 5 hours playing time i think. I dont know what kind of spot Vic would need from Phil, all Justin can do is break even playing 9-7 and hes never up.
The game with Gus and Jamie was like this. They wouldnt spot him cause our kind-of hometown guy (frost) told them jamie plays better than Jason C. Everyone who knows anything about pool knows this is wrong. Then we couldnt agree on a spot we told them 9-7, they said 10-8. Finally i got tired of talking and said, ok one set 9-7 one set 10-8 post $1,000 per set, and play them both. (if you dont know 1pkt, this is about a half a ball spot different) Gus said, do i look stupid, if i lose the 10-8 then i have to give him 9-7 no thanks nit and walked out. (wouldnt you play the 9-7 first ?)
Frost and Jamie went outside and saw them driving and said they left. 10 mins later i find out Jamie hasnt even been playing pool while he was gone and isnt in stroke. Im thinking good, glad i didnt get in that game then. Plus i was mad about the comment and their attitude in general. I dont understand how when you're a road player you come to a town and try to dictate games.
Meanwhile Frost is doing all he can to get these guys back to Big Dogs, unknown to any of us. He wants them to play Jamie badly so he can sidebet or probably stake them since i think the reason they left is because they didnt have the 2k. (they kept wanting to play for $1500) I mean after Jason C was up 2 games he started getting paid in $20's, lol
......... btw Jason was up 5 and then broke even and gus quit him. Jason also played Mike Athens on the 9ft, race to 9 (9ball) for $100 and Jason won 9-1 or 9-2 i forget.
ANYHOW 2 hours later they come back and want to play. I looked at them and said, listen im not putting in 10 cents. Have a safe drive back to AZ. After they realized they pissed off the guy who was gonna put the game on, gus came over and gave his best to try to sweet talk me into backing Jamie. Funny since they left the poolhall 2 hours ago because the game was so bad. Anyone who knows me knows when i make up my mind, thats the way things are. I dont change it much.
The whole group of us had a good time until 3am or so. Justin even drank a beer with Paul Baker last night.
I think thats all i have for now.
The Troy and Vic game, I initially didn't want to mess with it especially while I'm audtioning to be The Cooler at Prarie Meadows but it was cheap enough on my end($250) to go ahead and do it. I wanted to quit the set at one point and buy out for $200+table time and Troy didn't. I stayed to the point where I was delirious by the time I left. I walked outside with no intention of going home. Yeah it was trippy.
The AZ guys lied I never said Jamie was better, I lied to them about how Phil plays these people so they lied in return, can you blame them? It's hustling not tittliwinks. Gus went to matchup school and really wanted to just do a 7 ahead with 2 different spots during the game, that got dismissed but that was the best deal on the table. At 3 ahead goin to 7 ahead agree to play giving more weight, that's strong. I don't know what there bankroll was but I do know it was minimum $3k cuz they were gonna do 2 sets especially if they lost the first one.I'd say it was between $3k and $4k cuz they weren't too interested in betting $2k. $300/game one hole is good action, wouldn't call that nitty. Either way at this point they leave and me and Jamie go outside.
They drive out the parking lot and to a stop light and we couldnt get their attention. Jamie had gotten you guys to agree to a game at this point for the $1500 with the larger spot only, this was a game I liked..for the out of towners. Sooooooo, I make a phone call or 2 or 8 and get a hold of the guys. I just wanted to bet $200-$500 on the side against Jamie because I didn't think he could win. Sure I talked to the guys and yes they came back 2 minutes after I was gone for a half hour. That doesn't mean anything. On the return though right off the bat, theres no action. I mean Jason you said lots to those guys, they didnt say a whole lot...hell they spent a week of playing for whatever little we would bet. They didn't wanna go to far away from the lines they got from Scott and Dustin G. and pretty much everyone else who told them what they knew. I know all the people who told them what they were told and it made me laugh to be honest. For many reasons though they were down to gamble. One thing I have learned and proven(say i wont bet and still end up betting) is that in a gambling situation it's all a scene to get a bet down. You cant always play with the nuts so when you cant thats when you know how much gamble a person has. So figuring out Jamie hasnt been playing 24/7 and may or may not be in stroke was the determining factor. Thats the X factor that made you guys say maybe the odds are in the other guys favor a little but anyone will say it's gambling theres no lock there. That by far would have been the toughest game for him and he cant get staked for the first time in recent history. That's why I say it was nitty. Betting $1500 is a little different then chopping a $500 set. Also knowing if you do 2 sets that's $3k worth so you ask yourself do I like it for these amounts. If not you dont bet which is fine but to do all the matching up, woofing, making fun of them for only winning a small amount of money total etc. I even thought Jamie might have a chance at 9-7 but I like the other guy, can I get a bet down...this seemed to anger you as you fire at me "Havent you lost enough money betting against Jamie" and the answer is no, it was just a bet. All I know is it was the only time anyone had much of a chance to really win something and it was a huge let down. There was about $1500 worth of side action against Jamie I counted between myself, hell i wont be specific but Jon Brown liked it a lot, Bobby had some money to lose extra as well. So coulda been $6k worth of action total on a coin flip game. So if you won't gamble when it's gambling...what do you call it?
I'm thinking, the whole time they were here, I am the only one beside Mikey H.(1 single bet) that actually made a side bet or agreed to jacking the bet higher. I'm betting $50 with your $50 in the middle and a $100 on the side the entire game with Phil which is why they just wanted to play $200/game. I wanted to do it the next day and Phil didn't because he didnt like his odds too much. I don't tell everyone every thing I'm doing all the time.
Let me be honest though I'm sure someone somewhere thinks I am nitty. I'm OK with that. I think everyone here is a nit. Jason C., Jimmy and Rick G. no they don't count at all in fact if there was a game I could get someone to be able to beat him Chance at, I would only deal with him exclusively...I do think everyone else is a nit though. Maybe I've only been around Go Offs but people will bet high, lose, and then bet higher where I was.
Tired of typing but I will pose this question. If Shane was up $30k on Scott Frost playing bar box 9 ball....would any of you actually bet on Scott Frost? Real life is the reverse and I'm gonna put it down on SVB...think about it.
