Cork flooring for Your Billiards Room?

If I was building a pool room with your budget, I would for sure put in a hardwood floor. Why? It looks great and if your opponent makes a good shot and you go tap tap.....you can actually HEAR THE TAP TAP.

Oh its low budget. However I am a builder so the project will cost me about 1/3 of what it would cost others. I am doing one piece at a time as Johnny Cash would say.

I had thought about the hardwood. However Its the acoustics that I worry about.
I dont want carpet as I will also have a lathe squirreled away in its own wall pocket and perhaps a few other pieces of equipment. The room will be 30 by 34 with dormers so I will have plenty of area to play with.
I dont want an echo chamber.

I probaby wont have the final fit and finish for a couple of years but am hoping to have it usable by fall of next year.

heres a good start I found 3/8 thick for $4.00 a square..

Checked Globus out.
Some nice stuff. Great color selection.

I looked at the floating floor but scratched that once I saw the price. 8,000 is a bit more than I would want to spend.

However an interesting idea on that site is cork for the walls or ceiling. Some possibilities there as the ceiling will be vaulted. Do a patterned cork on the flat of the ceiling where the collar ties come across for further acoustical control.

I have cork in my pool room and it is very nice. It is not as soft as you would think and it does not do much to muffle the sound but I still like it.

Hmmmmmm.
Still has to be quieter than hard wood. No?
