Last week I recieved an e-mail that Bobcad is now offering Mach 3 with there latest ver. of Bobcad v. 23. At this time the addition is $200. What this allows is the use of Mach 3 from Bobcad with a push of a software button. Bobcad will load Mach3 with the correct program when posted from Bobcad. This option is currently located under the Modules drop down menu. Bobcad doesn't currently have a way to handle any user of Mach 3 that currently has a license. If you want to use this function you will have to buy it again. The Eng. at Bobcad did tell me that a special ver. of Mach 3 will need to be used for this to work.

At this point I can't see any benafit for me to spend $200. If I where going to purchase both of these then I would just add it to the Bobcad purchase. I know that Bobcad will haggle on the price of Bobcad but the Mach 3 will be fixed.

Here is a link to the Bobcad with Mach3 :

Mach 3 currently sells for on its own for about $160.

I agree. If you already own Mach 3, paying for it a second time is not worth the benefit. It's a handy feature if you don't already own a license of Mach 3, however, Lee was recently offering licenses of Mach 3 at a discount at his new board. IIRC, the price was $145. For $55, I can click on File, Open G-Code, if that's all it is.

Now, if Bobcad 23 could simplify their toolpaths and g code generating like the ease of 17, then they would have something worth buying! IMO.

Mach 3 & Bobcad 23

Hi,

I recently upgraded from 17 to 23 and got the Mach 3 demo on the internet to see how it works. We have been very pleased with it and just bought the Mach 3 License from Lee at Brianna.

The demo version only allows you to have 500 lines of G-code and we could not operate that way. We are very happy with our new set up and happy with Brianna for supplying us with the product at a low price.

I also took the BobCad training while they where here in Chicago and was very please with their instructor and his training. My partner Troy is a computer expert and he is mastering both programs at an astounding rate. I am not so computer savvy and without his help I would be lost. Using this stuff requires a lot of your time and effort. In the end it is worth it.

I just did the class on V23 last week and Sorin is a great instructor. I took alot of extra time to answer all my questions after the class was over every day. I asked everything I could think of and he was jonny on the spot with multiple answers/options to most questions. I have been using much higher end software up untill this point but I am impressed with all the things bobcad can do for the price. Really the only thing I wish it had was a nesting option. apparently V23 does not have it.

As far as I can tell nesting is an option. I was under the impretion that V23 has it. If you check under the help menu and choose License it shows up but in grey.

Jim.

Hey Jim. I just checked with them today and was told it will be available soon but as for now V23 does not have it.

I was also told that nesting is not yet available for v23. It is for another version (21 I think) but BobCad sales told me that it doesn't work with v23.

I had Sorrin as an instructor as well, and you couldn't ask for anyone better. The trim/extend utility still gives me fits once in a while, but I'm working with it. I wish I had paid the extra $100 for the art training while I was there, but I think I can figure it out once I begin to work with it. I'm new at it, and it's fun stuff.

Did the instructors cover the a axis durring your training on Ver. 23?

thanks, Jim.

He covers most of the basic operations of the software and takes questions as he goes so he will cover whatever the class asks for. We did discuss it when I was there.
