How do pro's do it?

I don't know any pro player and always wondered if they go through what most of us do.

Different tips, shafts, cues, aim this way or that, BHI, stand this or that way etc... you get the point. When I start playing good and level off, I analyze everything and usually screw something up.

The only pro that I had know personally, will try anything once. He has gone through all sorts of cues to find exactly what he prefers.

He has a particular way of tending to his shafts and won't deviate from what he knows works for him.

I guess they are probably more like the rest of us than we may think. People are people.

I'd think the types of pros vis a vis equipment would be split. Half conform or adjust their style and stroke to whatever cue they are using at the moment, and the other half look for equipment that suits their style. I know of some pros that do not even own their own cue and others that have dozens.

A pro that didn't own his own cue? You must have met him when his cue was in the pawn shop :D. Johnnyt

Pro players are just like us. (They just play pool better) Some of them are equipment fanatics, others grab a cue with a good tip and shoot lights out with it. Pros are also people, and unique individuals.

I've been told on multiple occasions that Keith McCready had to ask for a cue just before he got in to a big game--he never seemed to have one on him.

Just like me and you......

Im friends with several and have met and talked to a slew of others and they are all just like us in how we have all developed our preference for equipment and technique. They all go through it. Length, weight, taper preference etc. Its just once they've decided on those things, they stuck with it and didnt do the whole back and forth deal. THAT is what kills most everyones games today becasue they read a thread on how this and that will up your game by 2 balls etc. Just stick to whats comfortable and put in QUALITY practice.

Makes sense to me...But I guess we all went through that stage of looking for the magic cue. Not knowing we had that cue all along if we'd just work on our game more.

all pros do differently is pay for lessons from bca master instructors. that and the occasional dvd of a cutting edge aiming system and presto.
