Update on the Des Moines pool scene

How about everyone just shows up with their id's then we won't have that problem??? That means you too, Farley!!

How bout Jeff is an older guy with a great demeanor and has nothing but nice things come out of his mouth. He's prob in his 50's I can see his point of view. This isn't the Curious Case of Benjamin Button, he really is that age. Live and let live, besides once again it's a joke between him and myself...nothing to do with you at all.

Have you ever asked yourself why everyone else likes me besides you? If they don't like me, it's usually not cause I did anything to them or personally attacked them, usually just a bad line. Ask Scott Frost what kind of person I am...wait just ask almost anyone.

This isn't the Curious Case of Benjamin Button, he really is that age.

That is perhaps the most funniest thing I have read on AZ in a long time. I seriously laughed out loud for like 2 minutes and got asked by my girl what was so funny. Another reason why Mikeyfrost is a clown. Mikey, if you ever get a job in Indiana please let me know.

Jason C. or some guys who were in here this weekend. He is rather small time!

Jason C. may stir up some action. However, he was playing a game he was 11 games winner at and I asked him to bet 50 or 100 a game on the side and he declined. I said..." Wow, if I was 11 games winner at something I would have to bet all I could. " His response, " I don't want to get side betting started on this. " Maybe he was just scared he was in a trap...LOL at 11 games winner.

One more post, plain and simple eventhough I just met the guy I know he's all heart. We should thank Scott for coming out and giving his best effort against one of the best rotation game players in the world. Scott barks, but what pool player doesn't bark. It was good to see him play some one hole and at least keep the mood light during the TAR match. He's a good guy. Also wanna thank him for making himself available for cheap sets and things like that....Scott would play for $20 a set.

Unlike SVB who played Jason Chance the on Saturday some $50/set and Jason loses $700. Well the next day Jason asks to play $50/set again, anyone know what Mr. Class SVB says??? Bet $100/set or he doesn't wanna play. Needless to say Jason Chance told him exactly about himself for that crap.

Moral of the story is both players were professional and put on a great show. I'm just happy I was there to see it.

The most action Mike Frost has put into play in around $2000. Is that enough to buy a house in Malibu? He does stir up a small amount of action, but not like Jason C. or some guys who were in here this weekend. He is rather small time!

Hey Jon, how about you don't air your dirty laundry on a thread everyone from coast to coast is reading....? It's bad for business if you know what I mean. Plus, I'm honestly just tired of hearing it. If you don't like Mikey take it up with him in person, or on the pool table. I think Mikey is a great guy, even though we've had our moments. As far as that goes, you and I get along fine also. But, honestly Jon, having Mikey around is making a lot of people want to be in "your" pool hall. Since you say no one will play you bar table 8 ball, how about you have Mikey get you a real game. Don't even look in my direction, because I will never be your easy money again.:thud:

Can't we all just get along.....

Small time is treating your good customers like crap, after what I saw this weekend management needs to put there cues down for a while and work on there people skills before the all go somewhere else. Just my opinion!!!

Thanks Ron and Bruce, fact of the matter is simple to understand and I don't need to elaborate. The facts are the facts. I never ever claimed to be Big Time in any sense of the word but I am a paying customer at all times. I can deal with it guys because I'm a grown man and pebbles at the thrown dont impact my mood or movement.

Me and Jason R. chatted a little earlier and we both came to the same conclusion. You be the judge.

All I can say is throwing stones at one of the good guys can't be a good thing. I'll take the high road. I still love that 30,000 sq. foot building that I spend the majority of my free time in.

I could talk alot about things that went on this weekend that were unpleasent to me and other customers. However i didnt want to overshadow the awesome weekend had by most who came to watch two great players match up. Most people dont get a chance like that very often, and certainly not in DSM.

Heres a phone pic of some action after SVB and Scott was finished on the TAR table. Maybe Mikey Frost knows who this is.

I had written a post earlier that would have been first after Big Dog's but I decided to delete it. However, after reading a couple of more posts I think I was pretty much dead on.

The post went something like this to Big Dog:

That Frost guy must be a real ass (sarcastic).

This is the guy that, from what I read here, brings a lot of action and people (ie., customers) to your pool room. However, it seems like you take every opportunity to slam him. This time you call him small time. Before that you pulled the Ring Game that he was trying to set up prior to the Frost/SVB match and set up your own.

And you have the audacity (look it up) to slam him? You are the epitome (look it up again) of a bad business owner. In my opinion of course.

Hmmm never seen that guy before...but I hear he has a super cue and is an amazing action man. Prolly just another face in the crowd. He's not John Mars or Jason Chance or Rick Golden...bet that guy is super small time too!

I have to agree with you here sir...dont slam the pool room, it's a place we love for sure. On here especially it's clear what I try to do and accomplish...my reputation speaks for itself...like I have always said people either personally know me or know of me but either way always no I am good action.

I do want to say something though...this is from the heart and super true. The guys in town definitely carry their weight and bet very high especially in this economy. What if me and Jason R. bet once a year what would we bet...maybe $15k or so probably. Point is we mix it up and get a lot of bets in. Hell we bet together too out of respect and liking the same side. Moral of the story though is this..this is a fact Jack...if the Richardsons and myself bow out of betting, Big Dogs will not have anything major going on. One big set between pros and all the sudden everyone is small time...yes I say everyone even though I was singled out.

You can't single me out, I pay off on time every time and book losers and only once have I been upset about it. I take the wins the same way I take the losses but over the money is the respect I hold for the participants. I have respect for everyone whether they bet or not. I personally play guys for free or for the cash and have the same level of respect for them. I love the guys at the pool room, they are growing to be like a second family for me. When I saw guys start paying $55 just to help me get stuff off the ground I was moved. I genuinely was touched...there is a super group of people that come to Big Dogs. The class is in the customers. The integrity goes hand in hand with the respect we show each other before and after each proposition. The gamble is what keeps our noses open. The love is why we all play.

If anyone for one minute thinks one person makes up Big Dogs they are wrong. WE make the pool room what it is. WE make it a place we want to go to. I feel like I may possibly get banned but I no longer care. I appreciate all my friends and everything WE do together to make our pool room one of the premier places to play. This is real!

Well said Mikey! All I have to say is..... can I get a tissue? Man that's some deep $hit! JK:crying:

I appreciate it and you were in a great mood yourself. Did they get you at the door again??? Get a shirt made with your license on it really big and wear that to the pool room...you might not get in but it will be hilarious.

He didn't check my license but did tried to intimidate me as I walked by him as we entered.

My wife said, "Did you see that guy?...He's looking at you like he wants to punch you...That's the guy you were talking about, isn't it?"

I have a hard enough time getting her into the pool hall (that's where we met--at McCoys)....He didn't help any future spending by her there. I wonder if he even understands where his paycheck actually comes from?

Oh well, it's not my business that he's being paid to harm...but he is harming pool...that bothers me.

A great time regardless,

Jeff Livingston

Now that you mention it, the guy gave me the same stare down when I walked in, and I've never had a run in with him. I stared right back. I he wants to kick me out for that he will have his hands full...lol

I wonder if he has Road House playing on a loop 24 hours a day at his house.....

Well said! I tried to rep you, but have to spread it around first. A very "rep-worthy" post though!

2 cents for a Thursday

How about everyone just shows up with their id's then we won't have that problem??? That means you too, Farley!!

For regulars that are there 4-5 days a week that they know are of age they are just using it as a power trip to lay the law down. As if the bouncers/door people don't recognize Mike or even Jeff as a regular...other bars notice me and don't ID me that I go to regularly, but rather say hello and are friendly. No need to hold hands, but seriously...

The most action Mike Frost has put into play in around $2000. Is that enough to buy a house in Malibu? He does stir up a small amount of action, but not like Jason C. or some guys who were in here this weekend. He is rather small time!

What does this comment mean to accomplish? Do you like to stir the pot online repeatedly? So far we have had multiple ring games, and multiple $500-1000 matches that have brought other local players including myself to "your" pool hall to watch creating more business for you. Smart dude....piss off the guys (Mike and Jason R and Jason C) that get these matches and people to watch. Regardless if it doesn't buy a house in Malibu, more action and more people at the pool hall is better then less people and less action. Yes I have a business management degree and learned that on day 1 when I read the description under the title of the course.

Go play Kirk some more while he's drunk off his ass.

Love it . I would like to see Kirk gamble more with the appropriate spot when he is sober, not trashed.

I'll tell you what though...if you wanna play Jaime some and get the bet up there I'm sure some money might fall out of the sky.

I don't see this happening but would come to watch. Jon, what do you want for a spot from him and maybe we can get this set up?

Hey Jon, how about you don't air your dirty laundry on a thread everyone from coast to coast is reading....? It's bad for business if you know what I mean. Bruce, I couldn't agree more, it is getting repetitious and old. Keep it off the internet. I can see a little trash talking and lets get a game, but some of these comments are getting ridiculous. We all don't have to be buddy buddy, but lets try to at least tolerate each other.

Small time is treating your good customers like crap, after what I saw this weekend management needs to put there cues down for a while and work on there people skills before the all go somewhere else. Just my opinion!!!

I agree...not sure it will happen, but definitely agree. Broken record here right Ron?!

I could talk alot about things that went on this weekend that were unpleasent to me and other customers. However i didnt want to overshadow the awesome weekend had by most who came to watch two great players match up. Most people dont get a chance like that very often, and certainly not in DSM.

I was there for some of it and for some of the comments that were made to you and they were oh...slightly out of line to say the least. I love it when someone says something like that and then tries to play buddy buddy 30 minutes later like they don't realize what puke came out of their mouth just a bit ago.

I do want to say something though...this is from the heart and super true. The guys in town definitely carry their weight and bet very high especially in this economy. What if me and Jason R. bet once a year what would we bet...maybe $15k or so probably. Point is we mix it up and get a lot of bets in. One big set between pros and all the sudden everyone is small time...yes I say everyone even though I was singled out.

Once again, more betting even $100 to $500 to $1000 = more people = more profit for big dogs.

Well said. I was one of the people who played in the first ring game and even though I got smoked and only won a few racks, I was glad to be a part of it, and glad we had a good showing. I am looking to get back into pool hopefully here soon and the more I see games like this, or even the action whether it is big or small...its gets my blood going and my competitive spirit going therefore making me want to play more and more. The ring game for example gave me a goal of wanting to cash in one, then maybe cashing fairly high in the next one. The point is unless the players like Mike, Jason, myself, or others are doing something that deserves to get kicked out like breaking shit in the pool room, starting fist fights etc...then let them do their thing and the customers will come.

Holy Chit.....did Ron O'Meara just tell some people they have to work on their PEOPLE SKILLS.. LOL....I personally have not had any bad run-ins with Jon but Oly and I got into it last weekend over a disagreement about table time. I agreed to pay the time and Oly proceeded to cuss me out and say "it's f****ing people like you that give pool players a bad name". After that the expletives were getting thrown out by both of us, and then he threatend to throw me out...I considered the source and decided to let it go. Hopefully the boys will read some of these posts by their CUSTOMERS and think twice in the future.....if not....I'll survive and I'm sure they will too.
