Going to Denver, looking for an upscale room

I have researched places to play in Denver on this on the forum and, through CueTimes, found there are lots and lots of places to play in Denver!

Some members recommend Paradise, Rack 'em and Table Stakes.

I am looking for an upscale room in the downtown area. I don't gamble. I would like good 9-foot tables. I don't mind paying higher-than-average hourly rates if the room is nice.

Good food, beer and music are a plus, but not necessary.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
 
Damn...a brewery downtown...has a room upstairs. Wynkoop? Something like that. Was on the pool hall pics thread...VERY upscale! Hope somebody remembers the name & address better than I..
 
It sounds like this might be the spot for you http://www.wynkoop.com/ I have been there only a couple of times but I had a good Time. There is a billiard link on there site but you have to go to one of the other pages to see it.
 
Wow! Almost makes me want to drive to Denver...on the billiards section of the site, I noticed that 9' table play is free on weekday afternoons, and microbrew on tap is $3 per pint...and the food menu sounds yummy!

(edit) So, Shaft...we'll be expecting a review soon...;)

Wynkoop must be in the top ten

Totally cool renovated brick building, great pub grub, beer, outdoor seating, and upstairs......pool. Hardwood floors, good tables, when you go "tap,tap" you can actually hear "tap, tap". Super place.

I went there a few years back on my way home from the Vegas Nationals. I met TOm Ross and Sam Diepp there, so i guess it would make it the pool place in Denver.

Unfortunately, Shakespeares is closed (the first one and the second one). I heard a rumor that it's going to open again at a new location.

I also heard that the Colorado Cue Club was going to reopen. Good news for folks up north.
 
I liked playing at the Colorado Cue Club. Please post if it reopens. The only thing i did not like was i don't think they ever bought new chaulk so i brought my own.
 
According to the Colorado Billiard News it has changed names from the Colorado Cue club to just "The Cue Club". Supposed to be open early September. I haven't made it up that direction yet but I'll see what I can find out.

I haven't been playing much this summer so I don't know if it's open yet but we're supposed to start playing in a league up there at the Cue Club next Thursday.

I'll post when I hear for sure... uh, if I think of it.:smile:
 
I went by last Friday(18th) afternoon and they had a sign up that they would be un able to open that day. Have not heard anything else.
 
From what i hear about the Cue Club is that they could not agree on price from the former owners on the liquer licence and that is the hold up.
 
Follow-up and sincere thanks

Several of you recommended the Wynkoop Brewery on 18th St.

It was exactly what I was looking for: good tables, good beer, good food, good music and a great crowd. And, the prices were extremely reasonable. $3.50/hour/person (free during the day).

For anyone going to Denver, I highly recommend it. It is 1/2 micro-brewery, 1/2 restaurant and 1/2 pool room. How great is that? I wish we had a room like the Wynkoop where I live.

I found out that Denver has many good rooms. Because of the convention I was attending and nightly dinner meetings, I was only able to go to one room. Thanks for the recommendations everyone.

Next time, I'll check out some of the other rooms. I'll also call some Denver AZBers when in town.
