I find my game transitions just fine between 8' and 9' tables. Does anyone know of any disadvantages of practicing on one or the other?

Dude, don't shark yourself if the transition is fine for you why put negative thoughts in your head or look for problems. If it works be happy on move on.

Good point, I'm not trying to, in fact I feel more comfortable on a 9 ft table for some reason.

IMHO practicing on a 9 with tight pockets, or possibly even a snooker table, makes for a better game and the transition to 8's or barboxes is all gravy.....my confidence goes through the roof on the smaller tables....again, just my opinion, but it's easier to go big to small than it is to do the opposite....

Agreed! I feel like freaking super man when I'm on a valley 7' table since I play almost exclusively on 9' tables...

Worse than that . . .

Worse than that, I feel like Efren when I get on a seven footer. Problem is when I try to make the shots he makes on a nine footer with me on a seven footer I soon discover the difference!

I like to play different tables all of the time. When I play nothing but nine footers I do find some adjustments needed for the seven footers. An eight footer is neither fish nor fowl but the real issue is that most of them are for the home market and have funky rails and pockets like vacuum cleaners. I still gained a lot with an eight footer at home just being able to hit balls any time I wanted to.
