A Formal Introduction

I've been on this forum now since January 2009. I've posted over 400 hundred threads now, and read many more. The crazy part is, I feel like I hardly know anyone and except for a small group of AZ'er I met at a couple of get-together's, you people hardly know me.

I'm taking this afternoon, I'm staying home, instead of running off to the pool-room in Peabody Ma. to try to get to know some of you better.

It's obvious, I have a lot of time on my hands.

I'm retired, from Verizon, after 39 years.

I grew up playing pool, I started at age 13, in Everett, Ma. A small city just north of Boston.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, my name is JAM, and I'm an AzBilliardsian. :grin:

I live in D.C. with my partner, my daughter, my brother, and my Sammy dog.

I used to play pool every single day when I was younger, but I had to give it up because of my career. I went from a poolaholic to a workaholic. :o

I ran into an old pool croney in a shopping mall a while back, and he invited me to a pro tournament in Maryland. He said the whole gang who used to hang out together in the pool room would be there. I really didn't want to go, but something made me do it. :cool:

When I arrived at the pool tournament, I was pleasantly surprised to see the whole gang, just like my friend said. I really did have a blast seeing all of them. :)

I went outside to smoke a cigarette, and I saw a pool player that an old boyfriend of mine was good friends with. We struck up a conversation, and like a lightning bolt, I was struck by Cupid's arrow. :grin-loving:

Fast forward to today, and we're a couple, hoping to live happily ever after! :love2:

Again, it is a pleasure to read your posts and thanks for the opportunity to read Chapter 1 of your book.

Time Zone differences make it a little more interesting... the 11 o'clock news still comes on at 11 but it has all the completed ball games from the east coast included.

I am George Payne. I too am a pool-a-holic. I do more dumb shiz than anyone you have ever met, lol. I love to play. Think about pool probably every other minute of the day sometimes more. I am a ISO Coordinator/ Shipping Manager, but could care less about my job because as soon as my bills are caught up I quit and I'm gonna play pool.
Couple of pics of me. 1 is at the Derby (not picking my nose BTW lol, other here in Huntsville,Al.)

I've read a lot of your posts. I wish I could type as fast as you seem to. Thanks for sharing.

A few more tid-bits about me.

I'm married to Barbara, my wife, for twenty-six years. I have two sons, John and Ryan. John is also married to his wife Jessica. I'm going to be a grandfather for the first time in January.

Thanks for chiming in. Hope you liked the first chapter. It's amazing to me the different things you people can do with you computer skills. I'm lucky I can send a private message. You guys send pictures. And the Avitars. Is that girl real George. I dream of her frequently.

my name is jason. i live and play here in the atlanta area. i started shooting with some friends when i was younger, mostly just for fun. i stoped playing all together for about ten years to pursue a career as a chef. don't believe what you see on t.v. it's a ball breaking thankless job. about two years ago i quit cooking and moved here to a suburb just north of atlanta and joined the apa and bca to try and meet some people. after about a year i fell in with some better players and started to take pool seriously. now i try to play for 3-4 hours a day four to six times a week and i try to take a lesson when i can. pool has been good to me i met a lot of people in the leagues, including my girlfriend who i've been with now for about a year and a half, i've made some cash playing in tournaments and had a lot of fun. i get on az just about every day and try to post something if i have something to say. i hope this photo does not induce vomiting.

Hey Grindz and Jason.

Thanks for taking the time to let me know a little bit more about yourself.

Grindz, I think Jam, could write a pretty interesting story, by herself. That's what an author told me, and that's what led to my book. By the way, I've started a sequel. If Right on Cue ever takes off, I have another story in mind. Title, Miss Cue.

Jason nice picture, it looks like a beautiful room. A couple of suggestions. I also teach the game.

Move your bridge hand back and put your chin right on the stick. Look out at the shot, not down at the shot. Sorry! I can't help myself.
 
Hi Tom, great thread!

I'm living in Norway, and I'm the guy that always starts new threads celebrating when the Europeans are winning pool-tournaments. If you haven't grown tired of it yet, don't worry, you will :D

I love to follow the pro-pool tournaments, and I watch as much pool online as possible. I'm always in action, on sidebets and when playing myself.

I've organized pro-tournaments, been referee, tournament director, vice-precident of the Norwegian Pool Federation, poolhall owner etc., but the last 2 years I have only been playing pool.

I enjoy pool as a hobby, and what I love the most is to travel the world to compete. I've played in 3 different continents, at the Eurotour, Villards Cup in Philippines, Derby City Classic in USA and also tried my luck at the qualifiers for the World 9-ball Championship. I am not a good player, but I love to be able to compete with the pros, and to discover new countries.

I feel like I am blessed to have a hobby that allows me to travel the world, sometimes just alone, and meet new friendly people wherever I go, as long as I bring my cue.

Unfortunately I haven't played much the last 9 months, because of a shoulder injury and now a back injury... Hopefully I will be able to play again very soon.

I am going to Derby City Classic again in January, would be nice to meet you there!

There seems to be a break in the action.

I'm going to run to the store to get something for dinner. be back in twenty minutes or so. Another one of the things I get to do. Cook or eat at ten o'clock.

Bianca Beauchamp, even though they look like they're plastic, she's a fine looking lady!
 
Hi Tom...

My name is Jeff Georges and I live in the Dallas suburb of McKinney with my wife, 10-year old daughter and 8-year old son...

I have been playing pool for right around 22 years now and I am nowhere near as good as that amount of time would suggest, though my grandmother did accuse me of a misspent youth...

I am currently a Senior Network Administrator for a national company in Plano, TX and I am quite lucky to be able to play once a week anymore...

So I have become a league and tournament player which is a far cry from my younger days as a gadabout...

Me in a nutshell...

Isn't this great? We get to sit down at a computer and talk to people from all over the world.

I guess I should tell you a little more about myself.

As far as my pool career, I've done real well. I won the all New England Championship, three consecutive years, 1986,87 and 1988. It became the "All," New England after the first year. One of the prizes was a Schmit pool table. there was a player in the tournament from Nevada. The owner of the room decided to keep it players from New England, after the first year.

I lost my first match of the tournament the first year. The next time I lost in that tournament was four years and twenty-seven matches later. I had quite a run. Kerry Herbert, from Maine, knocked me off my high horse. Not before I took home two pool tables and a little spending money.

These three years, I was at the top of my game. In the room I played in in Merimack, N.H. I felt I could beat anybody.

Ten years ago, if you started by posting using your real name, then you'd be a legend in the in internet posting universe.

Now that you're a relatively new poster, by posting by your real name, you can't hide behind some false bravado. {edited due to drunken posting}
Them's the breaks Tom. Only New Englanders will pay attention to your posts unless you change your name to a fake one and come with crazy loud posts.
