Help, info wanted on shipping ivory

hi everyone,
can i get some advice? what's the lowdown on shipping ivory cues out of the U.S.? I know some individuals don't even want to chance it, some have never had an issue, and some have had problems. I'm looking for some hard facts in particular, especially in regard to ramifications if the cue(s) get stopped/seized at the border.

Sounds like you already know all you need to. If the ivory crosses the border of any CITES country it becomes illegal with the rare exception of if you have authorization to import it. Most of the countries in the world have signed the treaty so basically if you ship ivory internationally it becomes illegal ivory. If it is seized all you can do is hope they don't whack you with a huge fine as well as losing the item with ivory in it.

This is a regular topic, a search should turn up more information but the short version is anytime you cross a border with ivory you are taking chances just like when you smuggle anything else.
