Ivory sleeved stainless steel joint

Is it possible to add an ivory sleeved stainless steel joint to a cue that already has a stainless steel joint? As far as playability, will it still retain the hit of the cue?

If I am understanding you correctly you want to put a Ivory sleeve over a stainless steel joint. If this is right I dont know that it will make much of a change to the hit of the cue at all.

Well I dont know anyone that has done that before. I am sure someone has though. I have sleeved Ivory over a stainless butt cap before for strength purposes!
Why dont you just have a Ivory joint put on and take the stainless steel off if you dont mine me asking?

I am not looking to change the hit of the cue at all. I also assume that an full ivory joint would change the weight and balance of the cue. I want the look of ivory without any other changes to the cue.

That is what I was thinking. Well if you sleeve Ivory over your steel joint your going to lose a little weight. You will get the look your looking for. I dont think it will change the hit much.

Most of the new Black Boars are ivory over SS, it does change the weight distribution in the cue, you lose about +/-.5 oz (I know I'm off a little here) in weight at the joint, so yeah it changes the hit of the cue if you add the weight back into the cue with a weight bolt because the weight is now at the very back of the cue not in the middle. It aint cheap as its alot of work. I'm not a cue maker but I play with a cue that has that set up and I love the feel of it.

I have one of Leon Sly's cue's with the joint he has shown and I am one that loves the hit and feel of it. I am glad I tried it and I am hooked on it. I really didn't like the front weight of a stainless anymore, but I like the solid hit of it, so this turned out to be the best of both worlds for me. <ED
