It is funny. Some folks have a clue some don't. My ex was a barrel racer and had been around the barrel horses for years. She was perhaps the best I ever saw looking at the horses before the race, particularly running quarterhorses. She didn't know how to read a racing form so she went entirely on how ready the horse looked and it's confirmation. She wanted to bet a 99-1 longshot. I looked it up in the racing form and told her it couldn't win if they loaded it in a pick-up truck and drove it around the track. She wasn't the one with egg on her face after the race. A little cheap horse named Exploding Star, for some reason I was reminded of the name a few times. :grin:

Another quick story you'll get a kick out of, one trainer liked the way a shadow roll across his horse's noses looked in the winning pictures. If you saw one of his horses without a shadow roll you knew it wasn't expected to win.
