Here's maybe the last unused cue from the collection of Tads I've been selling the last few months. The gentleman I acquired this cue from bought it brand new, unused, unhit and unchalked from Best Billiards in So. Cal in the mid-1990s. He kept the cue in that same condition, it has never been chalked (outside of what resided in the bottom of the cases it has rested in) or hit a ball. The cue is straight with either shaft together or apart and is in excellent original condition. There is a 3/8 inch dent in the clear-coat on the butt end of the linen phenolic joint ring. I think it is well illustrated in the close-up pics below.

These flat-faced big-pin Tads are absolutely prized as playing cues and a little hard to come by. This cue was built by Tad in the 1990s. A new cue would presumably now be built by Fred (not that that is a bad thing at all, it's just that Tad is the man).

The cue is 58 inches and weighs 19 3/8 ounces with either appx 13MM shaft.

I run my eBay auctions from Sunday to Sunday and I plan on listing this cue on eBay in a no reserve $9.99 auction this coming Sunday if nobody in the AZ community wants to purchase it directly beforehand. The first Up For Auction on eBay will own this cue including insured delivery via USPS Priority Mail. PayPal is fine with shipping to a domestic US PayPal verified address. Just as a note, the last 4 Tads I have sold from this collection never made it to eBay and the last one sold on AZ in less than 1 hour (the one before that took 3 hours).

I sell my items with a 3 day evaluation period and a satisfaction guarantee. I ask in this case that playing with the cue not be included in the evaluation as a return would have to be in the same unused condition as sent.

Now thats a beautiful Tad, almost looks like it could have been influenced by Mr. Harvey Martin :wink:

From what I have learned here on AZ, these big pin Tads are certainly good players and this design as simple as it is, is a pure knock out.

I've owned a Plain Jane Tad that played wonderful - nice firm hit - very precise !

This is certainty in my opinion a pretty rare cue in as much you don't see them for sale very often and you probably won't be seeing to many in the future.

Who ever is the lucky person to aquire this cue will have his/her lucky charm :smile:

Harvey Martin's influence is strong in Tads and this cue is a great example of that. I've seen one of these flat-faced big pins Tads before that actually looked more akin to a Martin tan this one. For that cue, Tad made a very Martinesque butt ring. This one, with the linen phenolic rings is the first I've seen and you just know its a fabulous player, the type of cue that made Tad the living legend he is. This cue would be my player but I play with Ernie Gutierrez a couple of times a week and I just don't want to show up with a Tad.

I know how you feel Kevin. I used to
be teammates with Bob Runde and I felt
a little funny showing up to leagues with
a brand new Hercek...
To top it off, one of our other teammates
yelled across the bar "Hey Bob, come and
check out this new cue Terry's got." That,
was not cool...

For those who might buy this cue, I'm sure you already know, but to a first time Tad buyer or anyone else I wanted to mention one more feature. Tad cues have the most amazing press on their linnen wrap. He has been using a system to press his linnen that makes it feel flat and glass-like yet it remains cool and dry to the touch.

For me, every time I hold a Tad, the wrap enhances the experience. You've gotta try one. It is another one of the reasons why Tad's cues are different from every other builder's.

I haven't held a Tad with the linen wrap before. I think of all the linen wrapped cues I ever see though the Tad wrap looks the nicest. Great cue for sale!!!

Yup, we can relate.

Crown City Corey (who plays great BTW) was in Hollywood Billiards a month ago slugging it out with Tate. In his case he had 2 Ariels we had talked about but I had never seen. Later I asked him why he didn't show them to me and he said he just couldn't imagine raving about a Carmeli with Ernie standing there.

Wow, that's an amazing TAD player! I've only seen one similar to this owned by a guy that frequented Hard Times Bellflower around 8 years ago. I haven't seen another until this post. It is quite nice and I believe it is quite rare! I don't believe he made too many of these. Someone is going to get one heck of a player!

Thank you for that. I'm in the "mail order" business and as my clients often don't see my items personally, I try to do my best at describing stuff, otherwise I'm beset with returns and who needs that. What I try to do is get interesting articles in excellent condition so I can write a pretty glowing sales pitch and still be accurate. I think there are 2 members here at AZ that bought cues from this unused collection and both were thrilled when they got their stick. That's how I like a deal to go.

Tad's wrap method results in a unique feel as do his shafts.

That is in fact me and the ball and chain on our honeymoon last week in the caribbean (hence the tan). It's tough enough to get a tan in MI in the middle of the summer, definitely not gonna happen this time of year. I really hope you sell this Tad soon :rolleyes:

I tend to figure just about everybody from AZ that is a player for a cue like this has already seen it in the short time it has been up so this one make actually make it to eBay. Its a weird time to be selling a cue so we will see what we will see.
