Just rain and 39 degrees right now. Power outages are popular in the area due to overnight ice build ups.
Hopefully we get a little new snow back on Friday to make it look like christmas!

The weather is beautiful today! At least 40 & dry right now with all the snow melting. Maybe some light snow tomorrow but should be no trouble for anyone travelling.

This is our "open" tourney. That basically means anyone (including pros) can play. We do have a cap of 96 but have yet to hit that for an "open" tourney.
The "no master" tourneys fill almost every time and a list is posted in another thread here in the tournament section with info on spots available.

Lots of bad weather through the night with a little snow to make driving slow today. However, we did get 49 brave players to make this open event!!
With $765 in added money and $3750 in the calcutta still made for a strong payout.

The easiest way to find out is show up at the tournament. We always post results on the Carom Room website (see the first post in this thread) by Monday or Tuesday.
The tournament is in progress yet and just got down to the final 12.
All finished in one day!! Please check back to the Carom Room website tournament section for complete results, player lists & payouts to be posted by Tuesday.

No, the easiest way would be for me to sit in this chair and wait until someone tells me the results...
However, the BEST way would be for me to get off my azz and come and play in the tournament, that much I'll give you...
And, I plan on doing just that...

How much of an effort is it?
How much of an effort is it to just post the order of finish? On this forum? Like instead of your previous post. Some players could not make it and are interested in what happened.

How does that work? Let say I have the guy that won the winners bracket and when the guy that made it back to play the hot seat winner what kind of split do you do with the AUCTION payouts? Surely, you do not split it 50/50 since it would require a double DIP?

Looks like Jon is back on the track again. Did the guy that bought Jon get $738 or $597?
How does it work in Wisconsin. They can split the tournament money but when it comes to auction? If I bought Kucharo I would want $738 not $597 which are ball park numbers? How does it work? I GUESS IT WOULD NOT MATTER IF THE SAME GUY BOUGHT BOTH OF THEM, BUT THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN TOO OFTEN. Just curious. After Justin told me they had to be towed out of ditch just to make it up there. Sounds like the 4 wheel drive truck is the appropriate vehicle for the trip.

The players and the calcutta buyers make their own decisions. If they can't agree then we will try to mediate. If all else fails then they play it out. Very simple.
When it's late and the players/buyers agree in advance then why make an issue out of it? Anyone in the finals had a good day overall.
Travelling anywhere can be an issue. I would recommend anyone check weather & construction conditions before travelling.

the way it worked was that jon and justin didnt have any of themselves in the calcutta. the person that bought jon and justin from the beginnng had no problem with the split to avoid staying the night and finishing the next day. the people that acquired an 1/8 of jon werent so agreeable. i suggest they dig deep and buy all of somebody next time.

I have bought players in auctions before. Top heavy tournaments, stuck around ALL night only to have the 1st and 2nd place guys agree to split the tournament. I had the guy in the HOT SEAT, sure the 2nd place guy was HAPPY as hell to split it, he went cheap. I paid top dollar for a BLIND bid and was lucky to make a few bucks when if they would have played it out I would have made considerably more. I mean he had to get beat 2 sets by an INFERIOR player.
From what I read, it has to be hard for the players to afford to buy 1/2 of themselves with the auction going for over 500 bucks for blind bids.
I guess that is why in the old days they paid 4 places. 40.30.20.10 percent, that way if there was a split 10 percent was not a big deal.
I went to Quincy a couple of weeks ago. 1st place cal was 1500 and 2nd was 660. No way you want to split a top heavy tourney. Besides, I will sit around all night for 1500 bucks.
